Pretty sure it was dermott brereton, pretending to be sydney's coach. Gary Lyon wrote a similar thing from Collingwood's point of view.

All sems fairly pointless as no coach would ever put such thoughts to paper for public airing even if that is what they thought...would be nice if Derm could put his name to a "fictional" peice....

Makes good reading though from a "Greek Tragedy" perspective.

I am glad that no player wrote this...think it sure...

A player or coach did a hypothetical piece for each team. They were meant to act as coach of that side and show how/why they would win the match.

I actually don't mind these sort of pieces - way better than the average mainstream media rubbish.

Related to this, anybody catch Patrick Smith's article last week (in The Australian) on a 10-point plan to beat the Cats? Unusually for Smith, it seemed to make a bit of sense.

Tim Watson (I think) suggested on air yesterday that there was no way known Smith could have come up with the plan himself and that it might have 'fallen off the back of a truck'. If so, interesting - it was unattributed and Smith is always on about ethics to the point of pompousity.
