what are ur thoughts on players that needa go at the end of the season?

i rekon its make or break for Kelvin Moore for sure he has been on the list for a couple of yrs now and hasnt given us much just yet.

and Jay schultz really needs to make up for some of the stupid things he has done off the field. And again its make or break times for him aswell.

DJ(Jackson) needs to do somethign really good or **** off Same as kelvin he needs to stun us with some skilful moves and atleast 22 good games other then that i dont see any others that dont deserve atleast one more year after this

The season hasn't begun (obviously) but I'm sure some players (Moore, Jackson, Knobel + Hartigan) know that it is make or break. Terry would have told them himself. They would have figured it out for themselves anyway when watching younger players pass them by.

FWIW, I think these will be gone after season's end.

Jackson
Knobel
Moore
Hartigan - I'd like him to prove himself this year
Gaspar - Will retire

I can't see us delisting Jay Schulz. If he doesn't perform, it'll be a trade back to an Adelaide team (That's if we decide to say goodbye)

Hey fellas, why don't we save this one for July at least. The season is about to start, the slate is clean so to speak.
why wait for july most of the players in my sights have been around long enough.the real question is where to begin.i can think of 13 we wouldnt miss without trying and if theyhave bad yrs well.

tivendale - coaches pet
krakouer - in bed with miller and its all warm and fuzzy :thumbsd:
gaspar - no replacement
knobel - see gaspar
kingsley - unless he does his knee will be back for sure
moore - will play the injury excuse for another 8-10 years
hartigan - will still be trying to find a position for another 8-10 years
jackson - see hartigan
cogs - keep him and get nothing, move him on and get nothing
hall - plays on gehrig gets killed, plays on franklin gets killed, its just so great to have someone that versatile

wow!

its just so hard this year to find any weaknesses

OK..it's going to always a topic...but it has been done to death the last few months, so I guess I was hoping for a little positive going into R1...if we go down to the Practice Cup Champions, sure get the knives out then!

(The ultimate definition of an antonym: PLSC/Parrot)

its hard to say really, and at the moment - i dont think we are really carrying any player on the list - nearly all have something they can possibly prove to make them an important asset to the club.

i personally hope that knobel can become replaceable, as this means pattison will have taken his role, as i believe pattison has alot more to offer - same with gaspar/hall and thursty/moore - and tivendale with tambling and meyer.

players in the firing cannon as mentioned i agree with (hartigan, jackson, krak) but at this stage i wouldnt say we HAVE to get rid of them - they just need to prove themselves.

Give us a challenge atleast. Where do i start!!

Gaspar
Tivendale
Hartigan
Moore
Jackson
Hall
Krakouer
Knobel
Coughlan - While we MAY(big MAY) get something for him
hyde
kinglsey
Angus Graham
Schulz if he has injuries again

That unfortunately is a 3rd of our list. Goes to show how far we have to go considering most of them are playing in our 22.

you really are the spud.

surely if jackson, krak, hyde, moore, hartigan kingsley, schulz and angus graham (whats he done wrong?!?) found a position this season, and showed results on their potential - they surely would not HAVE to go - they are all young enough to prove alot in this season, most are at the ripe age to do it - agree that if they can't, then their time may be up - but in the meantime, sh1t - give em the chance

im giving moore a final chance and also schulz

the rest i have seen and made my mind up

if the coaching staff think otherwise good luck to them i hope they dont expect to win with those in the 22

Jackson, Moore and hartigan would be the young guys who have a lot to prove this year. I personally think at least 1 if not 2 will still be on our list next year. I think moore will make it to next season and really hope he comes good because is a nice all rounded player. I also like jackson Hardness and Agro and for those two reason hope he comes on, but i have my doubts.

Hyde and Krak must be on last chances. I see them as being very similar. They have both shown they can play but dont do it enough and would struggle to make most other sides best 22.

Tivendale, Hall and Gasper need to go. They are all currently in our best 22 cos the fill a niche. It wont be until the young kids can genuenly claim their spots will we see real improvment.

agree with most things you say, i think (for some reason i cant explain) that moore will be okay - i also agree that krak is close to the edge, but the one thing i cant quite understand is what has hyde actually done wrong? i do agree he is on the fringe, but at the same time - i can't actually see what he has done wrong except fracturing his skull.

he gets a bit of the ball, enough to warrant being in the midfield rotation, his skills are passable and certainly better than 40-50% of the sides, he can pop up and kick goals, has courage, endurance, and ticker. he hasa defensive side to his game and appears to be a good clubman -
has hyde been harshly dealt with? or is he plain and simply not good enough?

I think thats Hydes problem. He is just servicable. I love his courage and wish others would take a leaf out of his book. But for our side to improve he cannot be getting a gig in the best 22 as easily as he currently does.

agree to an extent, but looking at his 2006, playing 22 games, averaging 16.7 touches a match, 6 marks & 13goals for the season - and all of that playing mainly as a run with player - he appears to be more than serviceable.

I agree with what you are saying, and used to also be a bit suss on his worth, but on reflection, i think he may be harshly judged because of his "honest" demeanor, and because he does not provide that "wow" factor. i personally think he doesn's deserve to be in the gun sights as much as many others.

Are we criticising just for the hell of it? Since when has 'serviceable' been an insult? Seaby, Lynch, Braun, Butler, Nicoski, Brett Jones, Rowan Jones, Steven Armstrong and Drew Banfield are serviceable players, all with premiership medallions.

So are Fosdike, Luke Ablett, Craig Bolton, Jarrod McVeigh, Jolly, Ben Matthews, Doyle and Dempster (totally ignoring Roberts-Thompson).

A serviceable player by definition deserves their place in the team. If you can get 6 to 10 top liners and fill the rest of the 22 with serviceable players you've got a bloody good side.

If you think Chris Hyde is no good or soft or poorly skilled then go for it, call for his head on a platter - but if you think serviceable is a problem then you're living in an unreal world where all the girls are supermodels, all the beers are cold and King Calcium Man sits on a golden throne surrounded by the naked contestants from Australia's Next Top Model.

Then again, maybe this is your life and good luck to you.

I think you have completely misconstrued what i meant. He is servicable in that he has no real stand out skill apart from courage. His Skills are so-so. His decesion making is poor. He is 24 now and i would say he would struggle to get into most other side best 22.

I feel if he doesnt play we wont lose much if he does we dont gain much. Yet he is easily in our best 22 and our club cannot improve if a guy like him is guarenteed a game. Its not his fault either its our list and young kids not steping up yet.

No ifs or buts, Tivendale and Hall MUST get delisted, then their is another group of players on the knives edge

Totally agree Haggard H.

Although I think he may only be ahead of Nikoski in impact on the game in the group of 'serviceable' WC players you listed, his skill level is high, good speed, and loves a goal and would be a better player in a top side like WC. Decision making and turnovers agreed needs work, but often that can be a group confidence and lack of teamwork helping out the ball carrier thing.

He is definately a start in alot of sides top 22...so having said that, he would be one player who could be used as a trade at season end and would carry some value I believe.

even though i dont rate hyde he is miles ahead of krak, hartigan etc

hey hags i love how you bring up all those role players because thats what they are, sydney and west coast dont rely on those guys to win them matches they are their to keep them in games or for defensive duties

hyde is an attacking mid/flanker who should be doing more on a consistent basis

The ugly truth is that of those players perhaps only Gasper(retirement?), Jackson(no good) will get the chop, maybe Moore. The rest of them will be wearing richmond jumpers for a while.

hyde mainly played as a run with player, so he obviously has a fairly significant defensive side as well, that is not to say he also can play an attacking role also.

if hyde had a few more inches of height, would certainly help his case. not much he can do to help that though

People have been saying for years most of these players will be gone. Face facts fellas they're not going anywhere.
