FTA-TV Why hasn't Rove been axed yet?

The reason Rove has so many other people on his show is because he's trying to compensate for his lack of funnyness.
Ryan Shelton - personally I can't stand him, surprised actually that a few of you like him
Carrie Bickmore - the news thing was funny (but she obviously didn't write any of it). she ads 0 to the show
Hamish and Andy - aren't bad but I never found them that funny in the first place
Peter Helliar - his jokes always seem tired.

And finally Rove really sucks balls at interviewing. The interviews are always short (even Lily Allen said the other week "is that it" or something like that) because he has too many rubbish segments. He also never really asks good questions.

I couldn't believe they eliminated one of the funniest segments from the show - the Commsec finance report - Tom P > everyone else on the show .

I've often recorded the show and then cut out the commercials and parts i couldn't stand/didn't find funny on that weeks episode. Quite often out of 1hr and 10 minutes of show (including commercials), i'd be left with 5 - 10 minutes of stuff worth watching.

Carrie at the Newsdesk is another good one, but that's where my appreciation for the show ends. Also depends on the weekly guests, will give a for the 'quality' this year. They havn't resorted to many pre recorded / via satellite interviews as they have over past years.

Kevin Rudd P.M was great last year, this year it doesn't have the same edge.

Can't stand Hamish & Andy (Hamish is the funniest out of the duo, but both are irritating), Dave Hughes was great 5 years ago... but his rants are stale, Ryan Shelton is an unfunny git.

Rove is more annoying then funny but for a chat show it's ok & Pete & Hughsie are always good for a few laughs.

Carrie is cute but doesn't do much.

Ryan is sometimes painful,other times sublime.

Hamish is good but Andy is a dud

The main gripe I have with the show is that the variety show/chat show format is one that I love, and Rove fails to turn it into anything even remotely resembling 'good'. Letterman is an amazing tv personality, and makes lame jokes hilarious with his delivery. Even Leno, Conan, and Ferguson make entertaining shows. But Rove.. it's just a waste of a television studio.

Hamish and Andy joked on their radio show recently about the new 7pm show, but unfortunately they're not going to be hosting it. They have the most popular radio show in the history of Australian broadcasting (this is a fact, google it if you want) and yet they've failed to make the transition to TV. I think they deserve another chance.

I said at the start of my post that my main gripe with Rove is that he takes up a spot that someone talented could be using, but my real main gripe is that the show is shit.

There is not a single funny person on the show. It is nearly as laugh free as Before the Game. It is really quite sad how easily the term Comedian gets thrown around in Australia. Just cos you have the guts to try stand up, does not make you funny. Australian TV, be it Rove, BtheG, Good News Week, suffers from an over population of humourless gits. Tom Gleeson, Julia Morris and Lehmmo being the standouts to me in the field of unfunniness. More proof that the networks are ran by total flogs.

I used to like Rove. When I was, like, 15. His humour is immature and unsophisticated and he has little to no interviewing skill. I don't have anything against him personally, I just don't believe he is funny enough to host a chat show.

Dave Callan leaving was the worst thing ever. I guess that is compensated however by Corinne Grant leaving, which was the best thing ever.
