What the heck? Why have sponsor's logos replaced club badges on guernseys?

So you hate sponsors so much that you would rather clubs cut back on staff putting people out of work, because of small logos on the ball or pads that in no way affect the actual sport?

That argument doesn"t work because you could say the fact that players dont have adds on their arms and legs is costing someone a job.

Well thats not part of the uniform that you had issue with sponsors being on. You also had issue with the ball and signs around the oval, all of which dont affect the game but allow clubs to hire the professionals that they want to hire

It gets worse every year, there was a time when you had one main sponsor and there was no crap on the playing areas ect.You probably dont realise how branded your brain is from watching a game of footy, it's not right.

I watch many different sports, every professional sport has branding around whether its labelling for different things like score reviews, over the jersey, around the ground, pre/post game, court/field side interviews etc. These sponsors make the game happen, its the way it is if you dont like it go watch amateur football because it honestly has no affect on the game

Maybe everyone does actually realise how branded they are. And perhaps, that is minimally.

I'm sure some of the weaker minds are more affected than others, but most probably either don't care because they are clever enough to cope with it, or don't even notice it, in which case, well done to the sponsors.

You're wrong, talk to a marketing person, everything they do is designed to brand your brain ,manipulate you and make you feel inadequate about something. What does being an athlete and playing for a team have to do with junk food, gambling, new cars, alcohol, internet providers, insurance companies ect Why do people wear Nike shoes, when there are better quality shoes for a cheaper price? Why the hell would anyone drink carlton draft ? Why do children understand gambling odds and associate football with betting? I bet most of your clothing has a brand name on it, what's that all about? You have been manipulated by advertisers.

The advertisements are largely for the people watching on TV.

If you go to a game and spend all your time looking at the advertising board, I think you need to get your priorities in order.

Nothing wrong with having advertising on jumpers or on the fence, it helps pay the bills.

The revenue from the fences, with their flashing lights, is not needed, imo. It looks tacky.

Nor is the reserving of Level 2 (or 3) at major stadiums for those willing to pay the additional fees. Fans sitting on the top Level detract from the spectacle of AFL. Stadiums look 3/4 empty when they are actually half full. People have less enjoyment attending games, and they feel disenfranchised.

The AFL should try make going to the footy the best experience it can be. That is where the real money is, and the power.

Way off. Like I said, weaker minds perhaps.

The fact the AFL had record attendances last year would suggest that people will come either way, things like food and drink prices deter some but most are willing to pay up if they need to to support their team. The fences arent as tacky as the old canvas things they hung over the fence, and its a worldwide thing
