Richmond look to be picking up Fev for as little as pick 8.

If this is anywhere near true why havnt WCE, who have a immence side apart from key forwards gone after him?

He'd kick 100+ goals for West Coast I reckon.

I feel they could very much use him.
Doesn't matter what you think, doesn't even matter what I think. What ever the club wants to do they will and they obviously don't want him.

I doubt we could fit him in our salary cap. Surely as a footballer even Fev would think that if he came to the eagles they would be a massive show for the flag, indeed clear favourites you would think.

The entire football world seems to think WCE would find a gun KPP forward very handy.

Fair point.

You'd think so.

I don't think Fevola cares about success. All he wants is his pay check.

The main reason would be $$$

Think about it. They are already paying Judd and Cousins very big bikkies, they are yet to re-sign Wirrapunda who will be after a lot of cash, Cox can't be too far away from being out of contract, I think they need to re-sign Hunter and Glass who'll be after pay rises after good seasons as well as the fact that Kerr and Embley lead a host of players who come out of contract next season. Not only do they not have a lot of cash to spare now, but they'll need a whole lot more in the coming years. There is no way they could possibly afford to pay half of Fev's contract let alone the whole lot.

And there is also the fact that he'll want to stay in Melbourne for his media and promotions stuff.

If we got him for free without any baggage, then yes, he'd be a good get. Unfortunately, that ain't the case.

-The first reason is simply that he'd cost a lot on the trade table- its easy to say 'xyz would make us better', a bit less easy to consider whether losing quality players would do anything other than even the ledger. Geelong fell into that trap when they got Ottens.

-The second reason is his great big whopping salary. With a team of up and comers, we're under a fair amount of salary cap pressure already, and to add a 400pa player, we'd need to do more than to offload Gardiner to find room- we'd suddenly be really struggling to hang onto someone like Wirrpunda or Kerr- I certainly don't want Fevola on those terms.

-The third (and IMO most persuasive) reason is simply that Fevola is very much a headcase who is no sure thing. He might thrive at West Coast with the delivery he'll get, he might explode and be unable to function in an environment which demands a good deal more professionalism and commitment than he's accustomed to.

Because of all of the above, he's not the kind of player I think we'd go out of our way to chase.

Other than that, its pointless- yes, the odds are he'd probably make us a lot better IF we got him for free, and didn't have to worry about his salary.
-IF Sydney netted Chris Judd for free, they'd be unbeatable.
-IF St Kilda could walk down to the corner store and buy a Dean Cox without losing anyone, they'd be invincible.

The way the AFL works is with the current salary cap situation, noone can put together a complete team- instead, there are about 3 or 4 teams which are very very good but have one or two weaknesses- this year, the spoils went to the team which took their chances and frankly got lucky with injuries when it counted. Unless one of the contender sides manage to address their weaknesses on the cheap, the same will happen in '06.

Because the Eagles hierarchy are deluded in believing their current impotent forward line will win them the flag.

Just think 12 months ago if they bit the bullet and did the trade for Nathan Thomson this year's GF would have been as good as theirs.

I believe it was a 1st and 2nd roudner for Tomo. However the Roos had a higher 1st and 2nder so they were always going to trump us.

Basically WCE would have to give up a quality midfielder to trade for Fev and to fit him in the cap and even then it would be a stretch to fit him in. They should try and get a deal done IMO but politically it is risky and football clubs are very risk adverse these days.

4 reasons:
1) I highly doubt he would want to leave Melb
2) His salary would not fit into our cap
3) We do not have a good first round pick
4) He is an arrogant ******** who might upset a very stable side
