No, well not until the same coin is invested in the grassroots that the traditional states get. The GF gets shared around.
Maybe we could have a media that isn’t all about VFL.
That’s before we get to the 3rd party aponsorships

But yeah once all the advantages Victorians receive are looked at we can look at academies in the northern states.
It’s the old WNBA joke from Bill Burr

“Huh why are we not getting more money”
“Because you don’t sell any ****ing tickets”

I was in Brisbane a for a few weeks recently. Jason Cloke's son is looking like a superstar. The family love it over there (76 games for the Pies). Tied to the Suns Academy.

Come on Colonial. All that you’ve suggested is a flimsy defense at best.

All that matters is on field performance, which is a direct relation to access to talent.

But the reality is the cat is out of the bag now and there’s no going bag.

But I expect the AFL will act relatively quickly now.
Acting quickly would mean Annable would be in the open draft…

Not at all.

But would say travel would also affect that. Plus beig able to stay at home.
And being able to easily access the GF without being a millionaire would also be good.

There is. If the northern states get the funding in the grassroots then the numbers change
But I expect the AFL will act relatively quickly now.
We shall see.
Vic clubs won multiple back to backs and we didn’t see changes in anything.
Brisbane get a b2b and the grabbing of the pearls happens.

They will change the F/S rules so teams have to give up 2 mid/late first rd picks or something similar to get a top 3/5 selection, but that wont effect Brisbane for years as they already have their Ashcroft brothers. AFL has created a monster that will take years before any onfield change is seen

Yep. The advantage is baked in for the next 15 years. Just wait until we have Gold Coast get all theirs in this year.

Can’t wait until we can’t even pick Finn Mundy and Jack Pavlich as they make the cost so onerous

And Gallop.

Nearly 15% of their starting best 22 isn’t insignificant.
Yeah a small discount on 15% of their side for all the time money and effort into the hundreds of players in their academy is what did it. There's far, far bigger issues with free agents and players under contract all wanting to go to the same 3 Vic clubs

What?

The money to fund the academies is from the larger distribution allocated by the AFL.

Please let’s not pretend it’s from anywhere else.

No, but if we win again next year I’m sure the crying VFL maggots will do another “enquiry” into the state of the game in Victoria.

In all seriousness, the five Docklands based teams in Melbourne have not registered a top 4 finish OR a 14 win season between them since the league expanded to 18 teams.

That's 15 years where a third of the league has been effectively shut out of being competitive.

There is a cause for an inquiry into this - it seems to be a pretty glaring disadvantage
