I stated earlier in this thread the reasons why Collingwood will be the best team in September, and why the other teams won't beat them.

Here it is again, just incase you didn't read it.
Well then, it must be true because you said it  You do know the difference between opinion and fact right?

They could win as could a number of teams. However, if they were to continue to perform like tonight then no.

Yeah, my opinion on Geelong and Collingwood's flag chances honestly didn't change at all tonight. Both played very poor footy in different areas.

Give it 5 more games and we'll know a lot more about both teams. Still too early to call for two sides with such quality.

Collingwood won't win the premiership playing that boundary line crap game style. It's terrible to watch.
Geelong have Menzel,Varcoe,Christensen,Wojo,Scarlett to come in and Collinwood have Johnson,Tarrant,Brown.More upside to Geelong.

You forgot krak and caff. They were both running laps at pies training. One is a premiership player and the other kicked 3 goals in a gf.

typical Carlton tosser. Might want to check facts before u post.

You fool, the players you mentioned are they coming back year this year no!

Both running laps at training and ?

Check your Facts you idiot.

All season 3,4 or5 changes most weeks more long term and short term injuries than anyone else we will have another 3 or 4 changes again this week but we are holding up okay.

Depending on how our VFL team goes over the next2 or 3 weeks we have a few young boys who may be getting a chance in the 1sts so things not looking to bad at Pieland if our injury situation stabilizes we may worry a few sides.

Geelong mostly got back in this match because 2 injured players we had 3 or 4 chances to finish them off but we did,nt we giving too many teams a sniff if we can get through to rd 15 or 16 without too many more injuries they will be well placed and definitely a flag chance.

If Malthouse was still in charge of this group I'd probably back them to gain revenge by winning silverware this year. Still with Buckley in his rookie season, I'm not so sure.

Bucks is still better than Hird though..

To anyone writing Collingwood off because it was a scrappy win with a lot of skills errors. Go watch Round 1, 2011, Geelong v St Kilda and tell me Geelong look like a premiership team... I remember most of bigfooty writing off those two teams then as well.

Who is the idiot? Running laps after knee injuries means they will be back within 6 weeks.

Don't u look stupid now?

No. Too many teams on the way past Collingwood this year. Window coming down too fast for them to do anything about it. No quality rucks doesn't help either.

& the rampaging bombers.

You beat us by one point in our worst effort of the year after a four day break. Yes I realise you had a four day break as well but let's face it, Port at Etihad is basically a training drill. You also had the rub of the green from the umpires. And we still managed to grab the lead with a couple of minutes to go. It was hardly a convincing victory and neither was last night.

But lets face it, at the end of a day a win is a win. Collingwood have looked good since that Carlton loss.

You're really confident you can beat us when we meet next? Despite the fact that we will probably have Reid, Shaw, Thomas, Tarrant and Didak in the side the next time we meet. Clarke killed Stanton last time, dont see any reason why he can't run with him again. That means all we have to do is limit Watson and our midfield will dominate.
How were Essendon's convincing victories over the Gold Coast, Port Adelaide and North Melbourne?
Plenty of cocky Bombers supporters around at the moment, forgetting that they still have to play 3 more games away, and the Bombers are terrible on the road, then you have a closing 7 weeks where it is very possible you will find it difficult to win more than 2 games.
The draw has been kind to the Bombers so far, don't get too far ahead of yourself.

I'm not getting ahead of myself. I agree that if we both play our best Collingwood, due to experience, are probably ahead at this stage. It was Collingwood supporters who were pointing out the victory over Essendon as something to hang their hats on. I'm just pointing out that it wasn't a convincing victory.

ffs :thumbsd::thumbsd:

That remains to be seen. Right now Hird is in the lead.
well as I see it they have met once and Bucks comprehensively outcoached Hird and Thompson. Hird lipped all week about not letting Harry run free then guess what he did!!!

We are far from being sure of a GF spot but to run the game out without the services of two of our most influential players for most of the last quarter, leaving only one player on the pine is a wonderful effort.

Can't take a trick with injuries at the moment but consider this. . .

We haven't had a settled backline all season

We haven't had a game with less than 4 of our best 22 out of the team

Yet we are still 6 and 2.

Pendles dominated the last quarter, Jonbe54

I'd say he is one of your most influential players IF NOT your most influential player. ;)

Nothing but admiration for Pendles effort in the last CB, he looked stuffed at 3/4 time and was carrying a corked calf yet still lifted and almost carried us over the line.

Pure class and courage.

it was a tough, hard-fought victory over a team that has looked amazing in several matches and very ordinary in others (didn't essendon almost lose to port at etihad? :D).

results, efforts and performances of teams have fluctuated wildly early this season. i'm amazed that people actually think they can pick the form lines at this point of the season, so much so that they can shit-can the suggestion that collingwood, the 2010 premiers who are sitting on 6-2 with plenty of players injured/underdone, might win the flag.
