Kid is all heart. Could become folk lore very early on in his career if he does something inspirational in the GF. I wonder what he's paying for the Norm Smith?

Shhh he will be my nibble. (picked Lake last year).

After four years of hard work, patience and bowling teammates over at training, Will Langford looks worth the wait for Hawthorn

A very nice article by Emma Quayle on Langford

When Will Langford was 16, he knocked back a football scholarship to live in France for three months as an exchange student. When he was 17, he decided to play rugby instead of Australian Rules. By the time he turned 18 he couldn't do very much at all, bound to bed and sleeping 20 hours a day before he was diagnosed with a form of chronic fatigue syndrome. He is the son of one of the Hawthorn greats, who grew up in Sydney and joined his father's club not as a father-son draftee, but as a much more anonymous NSW scholarship player. On Saturday, he'll be playing in an AFL grand final, with one of the biggest jobs to do.

A lot happened to Langford before he got to Hawthorn, but more has gone on in the four seasons since.

I have had a small dip on him for the Normie. Good chance if he has a game like he did against the Cats. Gets noticed I think

his first instinct with disposal is always a handball backwards though. It will come with time, but I would like to see him start being more aggressive and creative and looking forward as well.

To be honest, he just has to keep on working on his disposal first. At the moment concentrate on just being a facilitator.

Even now, he still misses some basic hand passes out of packs. Once he can sort his disposal out, he will be a star.

Keiren Jack wouldn't get a touch if Kennedy and others didn't get him the ball in the same way. Handballing to a bloke looking up the field makes sense to me.

Experience should see him a very good player. HAs every attribute you could want in a young player.

My one issue with langers was he tended to lob the ball up whilst trying to get the clearance, in turn, making it near on impossible for teammates to get the ball

He's beginning to put in to a teammates advantage, whether it be dropping it short (allowing teammates to protect the drop) or out wide (preventing the pack from collapsing)

This is the biggest advantage we have, make no mistake about it
It's something which cannot be taught

Langford lives up to his lineage, not his looks

Nick Smith is nicknamed 'the Babysitter' because he puts his opponents to sleep. Will Langford looks like a Nordic arch-criminal who will put you and your whole family to sleep forever if you cross him. He's a frightening specimen – the Bond villain the AFL never knew it needed – which might be why Joel Selwood and Travis Boak had such a hard time shaking his tag in Hawthorn's last two games. He also carries the blood of brown-and-gold royalty in his veins. His father, Chris, played 303 games for the Hawks, won four premierships and mounted an iconic public protest against the proposed merger with Melbourne. With his impeccable pedigree and his resemblance to Hans Landa, there's just no telling how far Langford will go to win the flag on Saturday. Here's to the kid playing a blinder opposed to Josh Kennedy but saving the untoward stuff for later, when all of Melbourne is asleep...

For a young bloke, he has impressed so much. And will play a massive role to us getting our 12th flag and 2nd B2B!! Good on ya Langers, do yourself, your parents and the HFC proud bud!

Langers is like the team spark now.

He does something inspirational and we burn.

Loved his emotion the realisation that he achieved a childhood dream of winning a flag like his father for the team he loved.
Loved the goal he pinched off Kennedy in the pocket.
