Poor form has always impacted on our turnouts VS the Lions. Round 7 2009 saturday PM at the G is our record attendance at home to the lions at 34,646. We were in 15th and them in 9th. Next week we go in off a win and in 12th with real interest gathering in Riewoldt, Martin, Conca and other kids.

Realistic attendance expectation? 37,000? Any more a bonus and any less a slight disappointment given decent weather.

Comming off a win against norf I would think a reasonable crowd will turn out? Promising signs will bring em out of the woodwork:D

A big club like ours should be aiming for 40,000 :thumbsu:

With the exception of Judd's first home game ( abnormal boost to attendance) carlton's biggest VS the Lions is 38,600 in Round 8 2008 when they were 11th and with hopes for the future.

We're 12th going into Round 6 and with hopes for the future. Similar enough circumstances. It'll be interesting.

Yeah. Brisbanes form might hold a few Lions fans away from the game though. They've been real close in 3 games, but are still 0-4. They tend to have close to 5,000 at the games with a few Fitzroy supporters showing up. Didn't Carlton get over 40,000 against the lions at Etihad?

Yes but it was their first home game of a season with high expectations.. They did get 42,000 but would not have done so later on the year in 11th or 12th. The 38K in 11th is closer to their real record if you see my point.

Just checked the MCG site and they are expecting only 25k, which is pretty piss poor and I'd be disappointed if thats all that shows up. For mine I reckon we might just break 40k. Lions fans will be thinking its a good chance for them to win and our fans will be thinking its a good chance to us to win 2 straight.

Interesting to see that GWS are playing the curtain raiser, be good to have a look at them.

Frankly is they are right and we get anything near 25K then we are in serious trouble. I would be stunned if that happens.

If it's a nice day on Saturday the record will be broken...end thread.

I don't think we'll manage 40k. But I do think we should get more than 34,600.

I'm thinking around 35 - 37k.

if the weather gods are as kind as they have been in melbourne through easter, we will give 40k a real nudge. Sat night is a good time slot...certainly my fav next to sat arvo and the form of our emerging youngsters will have the faithful up and about

Wouldn't be surprised if we did get 40k, rang Etihad prior to Easter and they were only expecting 22k for our game and got 38k. Reckon our win and Lions decent showing against the Saints will get a few along that might have sat at home.

I can't believe that any Tiger supporter who can get there won't. For once we are starting favourites, and are a massive chance for two in a row. Let's go for 45/50k.

40,000 might be a stretch...if its a sat arvo game, 35 would be nice though.

there was only 37 or something for the roos game so that means 90% of the membershup cohort will have to show up plus lots of gate admissions

Yeah but there are plenty of tiger fans who would have stayed home against North because of:

Game being at Etihad and not at the G. Some fans only go to G games because they are too tight to drive further to Etihad and pay extra for parking around the docklands and the atmosphere isn't as good at Etihad. All lame excuses though ;)

Game being on Greek/Catholic Easter and people didn't want to or couldn't get away from the family bbq's or they were too smashed to leave

Game being on a holiday weekend and plenty of people would have been away from Melbourne

Game being a Sunday twilight game. Trains don't come as often on Sundays and familes would get home late and some people may have worked on Monday

Anyway, I expect 40,000 plus on Saturday night, so don't let us down Tiger fans
