Mark Williams decides today to come out and complain about being drawn to play the Bulldogs in Darwin so late in the season. Why didn't he complain when the match was proposed? Or when the draw was released?

Its one thing to be happy to go up there to play.

Its another to be happy to go up there to play 3 weeks before finals, with a 6 day break between trips to Darwin and the MCG.

Valid query for the AFL there, I thought. Why did they schedule it this late in the season?

again, its the dogs home game, why does williams have any right to complain? as long as the dogs didn't move the game to darwin at the last min. williams should shut it!

Mark Williams has and always will be a whinging bitch! I don't see either Freo or West Coast whinging about travelling in the last few weeks of the season. :p

It's just typical of Williams, he's such a sook.

They agreed to play the game, live with it. If they are a good enough team they will hurdle obstacles like this with ease, and it comes with the added gift of 4 points against the Dogs.

Melbourne doesn't have the greatest draw, having to travel from Perth into a final. So it's not all that bad Mark. He's just getting the pre finals jitters, he knows his holidays are coming soon.

I am sure Fremantle are happy playing the Saints at the Dome on the Saturday night as the last H & A game, haven't heard chris whinge......yet.

Wasn't it more than one game? They said they were happy to be the team that went up there to play.
That can't be right. I thought that Port requested that all their away games be played at Subiaco. ;)

I was of the belief that every club complained about 6 day breaks and onerous travel. It doesn't matter whose home game it is.

Again, can anyone give a sensible reason why we played the Dogs there in Round 20 instead of, say, Round 17? Or Round 7? Or why they scheduled a second away game for Port only six days later?

Actually, they did. Thats why the AFL are playing the derby in Round 22.

whinge, whinge, whinge, you are playing the 14th side, it can't be that hard. The schedule was known well before hand, perhaps the afl felt the power weren't going to make the finals, they don't have a crystal ball after all.

I don't believe Choco or anyone has complained once about having to play against the Bulldogs in Round 20.

So again, if they don't know, then why schedule the Darwin trip so late in the season?

how does this affect the power? if their good enough they will win, teams get short travelling arrangements all the time, move on ...

Unless this was a last min. decision to move the game from say melb, they should just shut up and move on.

Porthos, check the fox sports site, it's only come about today.

I remember Port relishing the chance to play in Darwin at the start of the year.

If it wasn't Mark Williams, this wouldn't have even rated a mention.

No, its only been reprinted today. Comments were made earlier in the season, but obviously the media can't keep printing them every week. There would need to be choking involved for that to happen.

Hey, thats all nice to say, but the reality is that a draining trip to Darwin just is not a great thing for conditioning, and thats particularly the case before finals. Both sides are leaving behind players they'd normally play because of the travel (Wilson and Minson).

We're going up there to play the game, there's no talk of forfeits - but for all of this, I haven't heard one good reason why the AFL would schedule a game in Darwin this late in the season. Have you got one?

lets try again to post, darn bf

i fail to see the big deal, i will say it again, as long as the dogs give the AFL, not williams, not port, adequate time to move THEIR HOME GAME they should be allowed to
