Im really hoping he can cement himself in our best 22 players because tyhats were we need our team to improve, the players who have been in the system for 4 or 5 overs.

There is a spot in midfield with his name on it and he knows it.

C: Winderlich - Stanton - Dyson

Lack of pace my arse!

Its not an under 21's comp.

Lets get one thing straight, he played a good debut game. But he had 8 possies and 2 goals. Dal Santo had 22 possies and 4 marks. Slattery was beaten on the night (as you would expect). I am sick of people raving about this game of his. I wan't to reserve judgement on Slattery before I have seen at least another 15 games in the seniors.

Fair enough. Though i think Dal Santo got most of those before Slattery was moved onto him. He does have a lot to prove though, pity he got that injury towards the end of the season because he would have been a good chance to finish the season in the seniors.

FWIW in the Winder, Slats and Nash debate - i definately think all 3 can make it, but if i had to pick one to be in our best half dozen players in the future it would be Nash. He has this air of class about him - the way he always seems to have time and the way he uses the ball. Looked a class above in the VFL games i saw on TV and didn't look overawed at all when he made his way into the seniors. Very classy. Perhaps just needs to lift his intensity a little.

Agree, I think Nash has the most potential to be, let's say, a really good player.

Slattery was brought off the bench and put onto Dal Santo early in the 2nd quarter, by which time Dal had racked up 13 of those touches. From then on he touched it another 9 times for the match and with less effect imho, compared to Slattery's 8 touches and a goal. He stopped him.

You are quite welcome to reserve judgement, and no one game does not make a career, which I don't think anyone is saying. It was a promising sign however.

in regards to the seperate Nash debate - I think he has all the tools at his disposal, he just has to want it more. That's what seperates Winderlich and particularly Slattery from him at the moment in my eyes.

Part of the problem is I compare him against the others. And I like what little I've seen of Slattery and Nash.

So I just question whether Winda will make it ahead of all of those others.

Thats something I dont understand with your post in regards to the comparison of Nash to Winderlich.

Nash has shown nothing more as of yet, whether that be at VFL level or AFL level I havent seen anthing thats puts Nash ahead of Winderlich, Winderlich has an impact in the games Ive seen him play for Bendigo.

I thought Winderlich took a step forward last year, he showed in a few games that he has very quick hands around packs as well as big acceleration which could be a invaluable commodity around stoppages for us.

Look at the last quater V Sydney in round 19 at the Dome last year for a couple of examples of his pace.

His footskills pre draft were highly rated and he pace aswell but he just doesnt have an impact on games.

You tend not to notice him out their on the field.

I did say what little I've seen of the two. Which isn't much. But Nash seemed to show some class, and Slattery seemed a great build with a good head on his shoulders.

I've seen Bendigo games where Winda has picked up heaps of kicks. And had "2nds footballer" written all over him, in the type of kicks he gets and the disposal choice. I saw him get lots of kicks on Saturday, but again his decision making let him down. I just don't believe he's got what it takes for AFL level, beyond the level Fraser got to. Who also had pace.

How many turnovers did he have on saturday?, i think if you watched closely you would have noticed a few others had more (Natrat ,Kep,Stants);) You also have to take into account he was getting it out of the middle and really didnt have the greatest forward set up to kick to on the red team, im sure he would look better kicking to Lucas and Lloyd.
I am not saying he will ever be a super star midfielder. Now he has improved his stamina his pace and extra run can be a plus for us and although his disposal isnt as smooth and silky as others it actually isnt a total disaster.
In previos years he simply hasnt had the fitness to totaly judge him.

Now i think i can see a wagon aproaching in the distance so i am going to get on it;) :D
