Wilson's Rant

Call it trolling or whatever you want, I'm just telling it like it is mate. I'm not getting paid to kiss the pies arse. Don't pretend for 1 second Collingwood gets treated the same as everybody else in this town.

Caro's article offends you so much probably because you're not used to been on the receiving end of what every other Vic club has to put up with from those hacks for years. lol
Caro's article is utter garbage and baseless rumour and innuendo sadly the same amount of tripe that many pies fans were ranting December last year near our AGM.

Collingwood isnt treated like every other club, our players fart in a public place its front page news, Grant of north gets pepper sprayed and kicked out of a concert 5cm on page 28. Collingwood sells papers thats why we get mentioned alot usually in a ridiculing light so it gets more air time.

As for the kangaroos home jumper issue, if I helped you out financially and asked you to get about inna pink tutu, would you be happy?

It would make others happy to see Opti in a pink tutu. It'd be a great laugh. Maybe he should consider it for tonight!!

Imagine Caro's story tomorrow morning.
Coach of BF Footy Team addresses players at quarter time in a tutu. Eddie must pay. It was clearly Eddie's idea to dress Opti in a pink tutu tonight. The Age understands that this is a perfect example of McGuire thinking only of himself. The Age understands that Eddie has been overheard by a bloke at the pubs sister to have stated "I want Opti in a pink tutu against Essendon in the NAB cup for my own benefit". The Age will stay on this story as long as necessary.

It does raise a ?
Why has the club suddenly come out & said a premiership is within reach this preseason after it never mentioned the word before? There is nothing wrong with these articles, it keeps people on their toes.

Maybe, because its the truth.

If you look hard enough for a conspiracy, eventually you will come up with one.

Not looking at the conspriacy theory either.

It is very un like Collingwood to declare their hand. Even in 90', the club did not openly mention the premiership word. The 1st article about this intention came after the return game against Carlton, when we had won 8 in a row.

As for the truth, you would have said the club was closer to a premiership in the finals of 2007. Why wasn't it mentioned then? Either way, it is out of character.

Who cares?

The article is much ado about nothing if you ask me.

Are you serious Greg, I must look harder!

Caro got what she wanted ..... her name back in the Football Public's thoughts. She like most used us to do it.

I dunno maybe because two of our modern greats had just retired Rohan

Although very light in substance she's pretty ballsy in saying what she's said about Eddie I'll grant her that.

Collingwood is the sacred cow of the herald scum and the bulk of the media in this state. Nice to see a paper willing to publish articles about the pies without their figurative tongue firmly stuck on the said club's arse-crack. About time :thumbsu:

Kinda like Geelong and the Addy eh....

Put on your glasses and actually read the article - it's personal and offers no evidence. If you don't see that you're blind.

i love her hypocritical nature, how the hell she can report on AFL is beyond me.
First she rags on Collingwood and other clubs going for Cousins then Richmond nab him and its a recruiting coup.

I even found out she is on radio in Melbourne as well!! ridiculous.

She is our very own Graeme Cornes pricey

Clearly things must be going too smoothly at Collingwood. No scandals of late for them to salivate over, and over, over. So she has to go and create a drama about a problem that doesn't exist! :thumbsd:

I think like everyone else, she is entitled to her opinion, but when she dresses it up as fact, that's when I get concerned.

A very measured response there Opti - and yer dead right. If you have the facts to back up your opinion then it adds weight. Without it it's as substantial as a fart in a stiff breeze...

Thats col davies mate, but i agree with the sentiments of both of you.

I actually take this as a positive.

The stronger we grow as a club both on and off field, the more criticism we seem to get, usually from the same sources. (Walls, Lane, Wilson etc).

I remember in 02 and 03 the biased typed were almost uncontrollable in thier rage towards all parts of the club, and now its happening again.

That's a fair point.

It's kind of like a tall-poppy syndrome where if our position gets better, the angst against us from those circles intensifies to the point of boiling over - ie. today with Caro.

Hey, the facts are plain for all to see, and so far, touch wood, we're doin ok. Footy dept is ok, team's looking ok, we've sorted out the finances, it's been a while now since the off-field indiscretions, and its still off the field where we are the envy of most Victorian clubs.

The key to any Caro "attack" is whether she'd be as strong if it where a Richmond story. If the answer is no, then you know the article is a waste of ink.

Thanks for thinking of us Caro!

Eddie unsteady as leader of the Pies

By Caroline Wilson

Story Here

In today's Age, well at least online. She seems to think that Eddie is losing the plot and can no longer hold his position at president. Reasons mainly about '
threatening to become tainted by his obsessive behaviour in recent times and occasional rantings against anyone who has done him wrong'

She then seems to list a bunch, in truthfulness very poorly written and not without the feeling that she has a grudge against us (shock horror), of other reasons for his unsteadiness, including:

- Not getting Cousins or Judd
- The hotel losses
- 'Gold Logie' Rant
- Channel 9 CEO job
- Loss of Swann and Arocca

I will say that i am a fan of McGuire and Malthouse. I think they got us from one of the darkest times in history to a point we were neck and neck with possibly the best teams ever. I also think that this crop of players can be seen as very very promising group of kids. I dont think that they should criticised.

I think that it has been tough for them, esp the Didak Shaw thing last year and i think they have held up well. I also think that eddie not being the face of the footy atm (unlike his Footy Show days) has helped.

Also seeing Malthouse handing over coaching to Hudson and the face of Neeld around a bit shows that we maybe ready for a change-over..... but not just yet...

Thoughts? Has Eddie lost the plot? Is it a changeover time?

Also, what was the 'Logie Rant'? I am bit remote and dont always get the melbourne news.

I don't read they stuff she Writes because she just hates the Pies

"Football players don't play football forever, so."

What kind of analogy is that Caro?

Ox and Francis seemingly unimpressed by her hypothesis. Interesting.

So let me guess if we had of picked up Cousins she would of wrote a negative article about recruiting a former drug addict. As for Judd, Carlton had the 1st draft pick didnt they?

If we made more money she would of wrote an article about how Collingwood are making more money than struggling clubs and its not fair.

Wasnt that Gold Logie discussion a bit of tongue in cheek? Its called humour Caro.

If he stayed ceo of nine she would of bitched about Eddie doing to much and should be just president.

Loss of Swann & Arocca who fn cares maybe they needed a new challenge so went to 2 struggling clubs at that time.

Caro is a washed up writer who rarely has anything decent to say.
