I've written him off before but i think you are right.
Not saying he won't win another slam or will drop in the rankings but the gap between #1 and #2 might be beyond him, especially if Nadal wins here.

Will heve to see what happens at the US Open.

Fed didn't play that well in the first 2 sets, he just served lights out and didn't need to do much more, was making a few errors once it got into a rally. Sounds like Anderson managed to get more balls in play and forced Federer to rally a bit more. If he isn't being aggressive he is vulnerable, he has been so successful since he has come back at the start of 2017 because he is trying to shorten every point by being ultra aggressive, that's why he has a streak over Rafa right now. Long grinding points aren't his go anymore.

Courts just seem a fraction slower which is helping Rafa too. Maybe it’s just me there.

Can’t be that must slower with isner and Anderson making the semis off serving and 3 shit rallies.

Which is what annoyed me about the times they quickened the courts in the us and aust. Having a good serve is good for the server but it really makes some matches boring.

Nadal vs Djokovic should be a corker, the other clash an all servebot fest.

Winner of this wins the title surely. Federer will be worried, if Nadal wins this tournament he's pretty much guaranteed to overtake him in GS wins.

Will the final even be worth watching? Had a big night of Wimbledon and World Cup finals planned but now I might just ditch Wimbledon altogether and watch the WC on-demand when I wake up on Monday.

KAnderson-Isner SF is sure to result in some melts among subsets of the tennis fan community. What an old SF foursome as well.

I've really enjoyed 2017-18 Anderson, wouldn't even mind him winning.

Nadal-Djokovic feels the biggest moment in their rivalry for a while. A fair bit at stake for both legacies if they go on to win the slam.

Federer fans are so shattered especially on social media, no one really gave Anderson a chance

It is a welcome change having faster courts. Allows for more attacking tennis. The courts are meant to be bouncier and slower than a normal grass.

personally, it should go (from faster to slowest)
Wim
Aus
US
Fre

ps. Will add that Isner has won a masters tournament and Anderson has made a slam final. Isner is a better player than Raonic. This is a shock but both players have improved the older they have got. I don't think they have a powerful enough shot to beat the other 2 but they could make it tough if they serve well.
