Time to drop him. And anyone who disagrees with that can f**k off. He's become lazy and poorly skilled. Do whatever we need to do to revitalise his career - make him play Sanfl for half a season if we have to. If he still doesn't improve, encourage him to explore his options elsewhere.
I don't have any faith in our coaches being able to revitalise his career.

I'd prefer he stay but can understand if he wanted to move on.

1) The trade out of the squad may have changed the feel in the club rooms
2) The three new players have come in on decent $ but don't seem committed to putting their body on the line
3) The premiership window closes after next year with our ageing list

1. Maybe - hard to say
2. Two yes, but Rocky doesn't shirk ANY ball
3. Quite likely. Even if the list was younger the lack of fundamental skills and the game plan that has been a failure for the best part of 100 years means our window has already passed.doesn't

Said it in game day thread. Needs to go away, watch basketball or whatever and work out if he actually wants to play football. A waste of a spot in the side at the moment.

I truly am at a loss. how does a good young player like wingard was, turn into the player he is today?

I simply have no idea what has gone wrong

Wingard has had the instinct and nose for goal coached out of him. Everytime he's inside 50 his first move now is to look for a team mate. 2013-14 Chad backed himself and went for goal. Hinkley is coaching the talent out of Chad Wingard. If he knows what's good for him he'll ask for a trade.
The responsibility ultimately comes down to Chad. He should be in peak condition.

But I concur regarding kicking for goal. Too often we handball off or try and kick closer to goal only for it to be turned over. Just back yourself in and kick the goal.

I was really hoping he would turn it around but I think he needs to be dropped so he can go and consider if AFL football is for him.

I've been steering clear of this thread since I (regretfully) dropped the inside word but people are making their own minds up now.

I have it on very good authority he had strips torn off him by the coach in front of the entire group immediately after the Geelong loss for being too hungry in front of goal. Since then timid, look for an option Chad has been noticeable.

If true, what the actual f**k are we even doing. Jesus Christ.

Fair enough, but does that explain his attitude and physique?

If that's true, then that's an indictment on Hinkley as a coach and not Wingard as a player. With the goal nous and skill Wingard has, you want him hunting the pack, being selfish and kicking 2+ goals a game. If indeed he was berated by the coach 'in front of the team' for that then Hinkley really needs to move on and it would go some way to explain his performance today. Such a talent wasting away.

Apologies for the intrusion. Please don't ban me Ford. xx

Putting aside Wingard’s non goal kicking efforts, his field kicking was horrid today. I wish he could snap out of his malaise, he’s wasting away atm.

There's clearly more to this than just poor form or poor coaching or whatever. Something is not right with him mentally. I don't know what it is but you don't go from being a dual AA as a 22 year old to being an actual spud for no apparent reason without something else being at play. Can't possibly play in the AFL team for the foreseeable future.

Could he be any less clutch these days? He's gone from ice cold clinician to casual party trick footballer. Directly cost us several goals today with no awareness or intent to make sure the right thing happened.
