Anyone had theirs out?

Mine have to come out fairly soon. Would appreciate some info about how long the recovery process is and any personal experiences.

Enjoy the week after the op if they are impacted... it was hell! Sawn off the bone on both sides. But everyone is different!

Depends on what position they're at. Mine were simple. Dentist ripped 'em out with a pair of plyers in the chair and it was only a mild discomfort afterwards. Different story if they're deep etc, prepare for a week of discomfort, but from what I've heard, nothing like the pain associated with root canal work.

Mine were fairly simple... Out in the chair... The dentists assistant holding my head and the dentist just about having his knee on my chest to lever them out...

Go for general anaesthetic, all out in one go....

You'll vomit blood for a couple of days, and your face will blow-up like a goldfish, but at least you can't see/hear what they're doing and the post-op drugs are great!

Yeah I had mine out when I was 14, had 9 teeth pulled out at once 4 wisdom,4 molars and a baby tooth as my mouth was over crowded. Face was very pufffed up for about 3-4 days after the operation but apart from that it wsnt too bad.

Whenever I've gotten teeth pulled out, I've obviously had those several injections in my gum but they also gave me this gas stuff Nearly fell asleep so the dentist made me hold one of his tools!?

I'm not sure how deep they are. I've been referred to a dental surgeon by my orthodontist, but apparently there's no great rush to have them out. My theory is if I get enough drugs I should be right

My recovery was HELL I had them surgerically removed it was soo painful...couldnt eat and my jaw was stuck for a few weeks hope yours turns out better though

4 hours in the chair because the bloody roots of the Wisdom Tooth were wrapped around my mandible nerve!! Had to break the tooth bit by bit!!

Recovery was approximately 7 - 10 days due to bleeding, swelling AND bruising to the INSIDE and OUTSIDE of my mouth.

Worst. Experience. Ever.

i haven't had mine out. just lucky i guess.

Yeah, had mine out when I was about 20 before I was having any problems at all. Cost about $1500-2000 but I didn't have any problems with the surgery, no horror stories and after a day or two it was just an inconvenience. Though be careful with the pain killers as they can constipate you which can be painful.

Had mine out about 3 months ago, no dramas. One thing i learnt though is to avoid all your favourite foods for a couple of days afterwards. I used to quite enjoy Kafilta fish every now and then, but can no longer go near the thing because the memories of that groteque mouth taste following the surgery returns. Sacrifice one item of food and just let that be your diet for 2-3 days.

When you get braces the first week equals no solid foods whatsoever.
Also constant pain just biting.

I've never gotten my wisdom teeth removed though, there doesn't seem to be a problem with them
