For anybody interested it was just reported on 6pr that Woewodin was interviewed by the eagles for an assistant coaching role today. It was rumoured that the eagles were interested in him a few weeks ago and now he has been officially interviewed for the role.

The short list doesn't appear to be that long at this stage so you would have to guess he is a good chance to get a gig if he wants it. I'm not all that up to date with what happens in the WAFL living in the northen hemisphere but apparently he has had a lot of success coahing at WAFL level.

I expect that people on here will bag him he was an unfashionable player and copped a lot of flak for the way his career tailed off so quickly at the end and he probably was not really what you consider a genuinely worthy brownlow winner. He was certainly no Peter Matera. But i think he would be a great assistant coach. Nobody i can think of in recent times would have more to teach young players about how to get the absolute most and best out of whatever natural ability and attributes you were born with. And he is still young enough to be able to relate to the players and already runs on the board in a coaching role elsewhere.

I am seriously worried about Embers at this news. I think we need to send someone around to check in on him.

Oh you hope it wont.

What?

Don't you remember Embers, the BF member not the Eagles player, not wanting Woewoedin anywhere near Eagles players?

Would be a decent pick up I feel.

Would add to the mix nicely.

Just **** Sumich off to Freo already ( I know it wont happen but if Harvey fails 09, lock it in Eddie)

According to 10 news, Woosha is going to be in Melbourne this weekend interviewing potentail assistant coaches..including Burns.

Also mentioned that Burns has another 3 clubs chasing him as an assistant, all of them eastern states based. Collingwood are also trying to line him up for player development manager role now that theirs defected to Essendon this week. And lets not forget that he hasn't actually confirmed that he has retired from playing yet. Maybe he wants to go on.

Burns would be a great pick up but the odds of getting him would appear to be in the same ball park as winning powerball.

Probably one of the most interesting apects of this is how will Woewodin go working with Neil Daniher again, if he gets the job, considering the massive falling out the two of them had when Woewodin went to Collingwood.

For those who don't remember Woewodin was traded to Collingwood against his will and at a moments notice a few years after winning his brownlow. Melb were in debt, as they always are, and needed to cut their football budget. So Woewodin got flogged off in a firesale to collingwood who sensed an opportunity to get a good player for nothing.

Woewodin then came out in the press and bagged the club and Daniher for doing this to him. Melb fans were also, understandably, up in arms and wanting to lynch the club admin. Daniher responded by writing a letter to all the members defending his decision and actions that bagged Woewodin that basically said, in a nutshell, that Woewodin was over rated and overpaid and that is his leaving would have minimal impact on the club.

I remember thinking at the time that it was pretty rotten behaviour by Daniher and co to slag the bloke publicly after they just shafted him and he had given the club great service over many years.

I wonder if Woewodin would be prepared to bury the hatchet? I guess he woul dhave to if he wanted the job.
