If memory serves me correct he was only resigned for one year last season on a minimal amount of dough.

This has been one of his best seasons ever and coming good at finals time.

If this was the case then we need to resign him again imo, he's become a very important member of our team this year.

Re: Wojo

Wojo is only as good as his teammates allow him to be. He is a reciever, not someone thats going to as good at finding his own ball. But when he gets it he is in our top 5 most damaging.

An exhilirating player to watch.

Re: Wojo

Fantastic game, one of his best ever. Get him involved against the Pies and he will break their zone with ease. At his best, he is just such an important player to this team and we need to encourage him to take on the opposition.

Re: Wojo

So was his step up last night a direct result of no Mackie? IE instead of freeing Mackie up to run, Wojo was given more license. I haven't seen anyone raise this in the will Mackie be recalled debate?

And yeah I was one that was non plussed whether he signed or not at the end of last year.

Re: Wojo

Agree with those that say we need to get the ball in his hands more often. And interesting point above about going to him rather than Mackie. Not sure if that was the plan or whatever, but it certainly worked out well. Still needs to execute some of his kicks better though...

The one year deal was the right move, and you'd guess if he wants to go on he'll get another year.

While your correct , saying he is a receiver is bit like calling a FF a convertor.
In a team sport everyone plays their role , having 18 Joel Selwoods would make a poor side.

Sure he get the ball on the outside. But once he has the ball very could deny he can create a shot opportunity with his run. On his best days he can deliver after the runs , when he does this he is elite. One can only hope Taylor "Rabbit" Hunt can do the same in years to come.

Wojo on form deserves one more year and good on him for taking the pay cut that he did.

I am happy to have him for 1 more year on the proviso that it does not keep Taylor Hunt out of the side...room needs to be made for both IMO.

Watching Wojo on the MCG Friday night has also convinced me that if Taylor Hunt continues to improve - he and Wojo could be a good combo next year.

Surely at the price offered to Wojo last year makes him worth keeping for another season.

More than anything, Geelong has nearly always been an entertaining, worthwhile team to watch play. Going back to Mick Turner, Ablett snr, Lindner, we've had exciting players with X personified. Now, the main players I like to watch are Ablett, Wojo and Varcoe. Maybe Moons/Pods add a bit of excitement, and Scarlett. But I have been a long time Wojo fan, and he is a MUST HAVE finals player, and must play again, no provisos. There will be room for T Hunt anyway, once Milburn retires. This year likely?

Could be the most crucial player this week. If our mids get even the slightest ascendancy put him in the centre and will only have to break through a fraction of the press with his electric pace. The more we can unsettle their game plan the more we can press advantage

I keep hearing T. Hunt as being touted as the next Wojcinski, but I think that's a little bit of a slight against Wojak.

There are probably only 2 or 3 players in the league over the last 5 or more years that have the 'out of control' brutal line breaking speed that Wojak possesses. It's a rare talent.

While Hunt is undoubtedly talented & seems to be quick-ish, his (top) speed is not even in the same ballpark as Wojak's.

How can Wojak and T.Hunt play in the same team? I can only see it happening if Milburn retires, but even then you would think Mackie would slot into the team that played last week.

That's the conundrum - but I think for Geelong to keep its game plan working additional pace would be handy extra. Either way Geelong will give THunt, Duncan and Menzel more time in the seniors. Maybe Motlop and Mitch Brown as well. So we can see if these changes (while resting our older players and extending some careers) make a difference.

Agree in part here. Wojak's break-neck speed is astonishing; he is awesome in full flight. It's something that shows he has a career here at Geelong and we need to squeeze him into the cap.

Hunt has similar speed, but different. He has more speed at the beginning of his run (first 15), but fades, I'm unsure if this is due to not having the confidence in himself to break the lines. Which is plausible considering he is still quite young.

And at this stage, that's what I'd say is the difference between the two. Wojak just has instinct running, where he has no fear of losing the footy as the gains are so big if he gets out in the open.

To think that he might have gone to Collingwood this year!!

And to think that even after the 2008 GF, quite a few cat fans on this forum still thought he shouldn't be in the team....

Taylor's probably not got quite the top speed of Wojack but he's still quicker than 95 % of our list, and as we keep refining the team, the way the game is going, I think you want as much pace as you can get, hence why I'd love to see Wojo go on I just hope it's not at the expense of THunt getting games...ideally both play.
