Associated with Retail and it's not going to be good. This is just the beginning and you have billion dollar companies really struggling after a week or two. If this goes lock down it's going to be unlike anything people have seen. Government will do everything to prevent an enforced quarantine.

One person per every 4 square metres for cafes, restaurants, bars etc etc. For SIX MONTHS, that's the end of hospitality.

local government, in a sector that is not expected to do well. unfortunately i likely sit in the higher-risk category as well due to in my case, somewhat minor health issues. will wfh almost exclusively now, after doing some minor onsite stuff. i find it hard to believe that local government won't shed jobs as well, and while i have a broad range of skills useful within my branch, i'm certainly not a critical employee. there is the option for staff 'redployment', though through other branches, etc, which i'm open to - partly out of some sense of civic duty, i guess.
i haven't bothered to check my entitlements and rights recently, but i'm also open to the idea of reduced hours and/or blocks of unpaid leave (while still completing work) to remain on the books.

the air bnb's will be flooding back into the books of real estate agents any time now.

there's so many ma's and pa's around that will go down with the boat because they're a bit cynical of this new fangled internet thing.

morrison has avoided the short sharp jolt of quick and decisive measures and played the long game... and it's ****ed us big time.

Arts and Events Industry here. Gigs cancelled. Events spaces closed "until further notice". Work basically 4 casual jobs. All gone silent. Gigs I had later in the year looking more and more unlikely to be going ahead. I'm not high up in that industry either so when it was hard for me to get work, only going to be harder

I don't know what alternatives they have. The aim of the game is to stop people coming into cloae contact.
Costing millions of people their jobs will kill more than the virus. Said it in the other thread, I stand by it. Suicide rates will skyrocket

Keep some money spare - you'll be able to buy a pub for $50 in a few months. How do these dumb campaigners get into positions of influence

Logistics, in alcohol industry, global company

Done many small changes at our site and we have seen a fair bit of a decrease in export but our domestic is hanging in there

So if everyone would like to buy some wine and spirits id be much appreciative

We are a big mob so they will look after us for a bit then i guess we use leave and after that ive no idea....hopefully if it gets to that morgages will be suspended (NAB has already started that so u would think others will follow)

I work in lending and it is insanely busy at the moment but obviously that is stuff that was in the pipeline beforehand. A couple of months lag before the shit will hit the fan.

Hopefully there is a massive run of people who still have jobs that want equity cash out for unemployment insurance "non-structural home improvements" to keep me in a job.

Otherwise it is time to try my hand at collections.

No such thing as a free lunch with a bank. They might defer repayments and lower interest rates for some things but they're not going to just not pay their mortgages for months on end.

Hardship is usually interest only repayments for 12 months or no repayments for 3 months. If the big 4 go any harder than that they can really squeeze everyone else out of the market as they are going to be able to absorb a lot more short term pain.

Hardship is usually targeted, such as bushfires and floods. Having 100s of 1,000s of people not working across the board because of govt restrictions is a different ball game. Whatever happens the banks aren't altruistic. They will make sure they get theirs when they can.

They want to kill entire industries off. That's the only way you'd dream up this ludicrous shit
I was at a pub for dinner tonight and there is no way this rule was being monitored or adhered too. How on earth can it even be monitored anyway?

I went to a Korean Chicken takeaway for dinner tonight. They've repurposed the seating to use the tables as a barrier so you have to be further away from the cashier and removed the chairs.

I’m in healthcare (imaging) and things are not good. Revenue fell away 25% this week and I’ve been out talking to a very worried group of staff. We managers are all taking pay cuts and we’re asking the people in the clinics to take leave and leave without pay.

These guys come to work and they don’t bitch and moan about it like the ****ing teachers.
