Yes, they are needed to police and control the game. Yes there are some decent umpires and good blokes too.

Remember a great umpire by the name of Glen James. Easily the best I ever saw. Just a pity some of these softco(ks we have in the AFL now don't take a leaf out of his book.

This crap about umpires not being touched is rubbish. I just think it needs to be looked at. AFL is ruining this game by suspending players who accidently run into umpires. Too busy worrying about the comparison to the NRL.

That is my bi*ch.

There once was an umpire named Clayton. Then just when you thought it couldnt get any worse they brought in John Harvey.

Goldcheat was apprenticed to these two and he learnt well from the font of their knowledge. I.e he learnt nothing and didnt it show.

He should be banned from doing Geelong games,much like Goldstink should be banned from doing Hawks games and Humphrey should be banned from doing ANY games.

Which umpires do I hate? Every damned one of them. They had their chance, they were spouting this living in harmony rubbish, and yet they get Everitt, Cousins, and Burgoyne rubbed out for the most trivial incidents imaginable.
Umpires, you had a chance to get the public on side, you blew it, now live with it and don't complain about the abuse you get.

I asked him when he came up to the Ballarat Football Umpires Association Grand Final Brekky in 1998. That's how I know.

John Harvey was a shocker too. There was one game at the WACA vs Melbourne where he and another umpire (when they was only 2 field umpires) paid 76 free kicks for the game. Was unbelievable!

Everitt and Cousins I can understand, but Burgoyne? He was lucky to get away with just 2 weeks! He ironed someone out by going the big elbow to the head!
