Check it out and let me know your feedback.

It would be a place to upload your photos/videos, etc, we could use it to run competitions, polls, etc and it also has message boards.

We would probably require mods too if we got it up and running, so it would involve some fan involvement in community management.

At a glance, probably not, at least not on a regular basis anyway.

Not to harp on it, but the sooner you break the BigPond/Telstra shackles the better you will be. You need total control over your content, but also your advertising and user experience (user interface). Upload your own clips and make them available to everyone. Full coach post match interviews should be uploaded by Monday morning, etc. Lots of things you can do.

The league has a deal with Telstra that expires at the end of next year, so for at least until next year we are with Telstra. We're trying to get the most out of the deal, this is an extra way to get some content out there

on the right track but no, for reasons already stated (telstra overloading)....im sure you can have ONE site where there is absolutely no advertising? and get players to write the blogs and do video interviews etc...

So your main thought is that there's too much advertising?

after looking at it again, no, the advertising is not the problem. im going to join and give you a better opinion.

I would like some user feedback!

FYI: This is soft launch from Telstra, we haven't taken ownership of this yet. We're currently deciding if we will get involved with it.

No. I tend to keep away from anything BigPond.

We have enough message boards dedicated to RFC (BF, PRE, OER, Y&B), we don't need another that uses "BigPond" technology because it's going to be crap.

RFC have done a great job to date on the Social Side of things (Twitter, FaceBook, involvement in forums, live chat with Blair, live feed from Jack Dyer). Keep that stuff going regularly and it's all we need for now.

When/if we can break the Telstra shackles, then look at what more is possible from a pure web perspective. You're best off waiting and doing it properly than doing something on a platform that will make any attempt look half-arsed.

Layout will look a lot different if we actually use it. How it looks now is just a generic layout.

Well, you'll dress it up with graphics and that, but will the structure stay the same? Main content area is only around 400px wide.

why not a bigfooty layout, with yellow and black colur scheming, different name of course, and different content pages, like the videos and photos etc...i have to agree it was the layout that got me, more so than the bigpond appearance, those two mixed together is not good.

Won't happen. BigFooty is run on vBulletin - even the blog is vBulletin. The Nation site is a blog type system like Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla.

If you're meaning how BF is fluid and the BigPond trash is fixed, then yeah, agreed.

Spot on :thumbsu:

All of those generic "create your own webpage" type sites have a stigma about them, and are generally unattractive. This even sticks out in the club websites. Since there are enough other websites that provide us with the same kind of thing, I'd probably avoid it for the main.

after joining and navigating around i instantly lost interest. sorry.

is this individually for richmond or the AFL in general?

if you want a site for richmond, as someone said on page one, you should try something through vBulletin. thats my 2 cents

Nailed it. And even then I reckon most users (well, those with some sort of job/education commitment/life) will mainly stick with 1 message board and the club website.

Potential is there, but only when the Bigpond shackle is gone.

RFCO - I had a look and that was all I got!! Saw a picture with some Tigers players appear, stayed up for 0.75s and then all went black. Refreshed and it did it again. Have had these issues with BigPond stuff before, and I am being naughty and doing this from work on a bigpond supplied link etc.

People are talking about "joining" it - I couldn't even find out what they were talking about!!!

If this went live and I got this sort of response from the page i would not be revisiting.

Telstra's sites rarely work for me and I'm on ****ing bigpond lol. Love the ideas but until you can get away from Telstra, I probably wouldn't use it.

I don't mind Bigpond. The games download doesn't count towards my limit, and the quality is ok.
But BF is good enough for me. OER and Y&B colour scheme kills my eyes, and after 2 minutes of reading anything, i need a good lie down.
No i wouldn't use Sport Nation.
