It would be good to find a cure for diseases like Aids and Malaria, those diseases claim a lot of lives but if i did find a cure for cancer i would like to be famous

Thats ridiculous. People don't get a choice in getting cancer. You have a choice in contracting AIDS. As for Scientists developing a disease to kill black people I thought it was black people having sex with monkeys in the African jungle than caused the disease.

We can't go back in time. Lets think about the present.
If you cure cancer, you'd hope you're not like an A-star celeb and get stalked all the time, which I doubt would happen. But short fame wouldn't be too bad, get some good money then fade away. That is all. Not be some egotistical maniac!

Research on major diseases & health problems is something I'd like to do once I've finished my degree. If I found a cure for cancer, I wouldn't care if I was well known or not. Achieving something so great and making a difference to so many lives would be good enough as it was.

Credit and respect would be good, but all I want to do is make a contribution in the area, simple as that.

No but you can avoid it by not having unsafe sex with multiple partners. You can't avoid cancer.
