1. Finish the minor round 8th...just scraping in by the skin of your teeth...then go onto win all your finals and therefore the premiership.

OR

2. Finish as minor premiers. 18 wins 4 losses. Win the premiership from there with relative ease.

Kind of useless question, but something I've wondered a while...

I'd rather my team be the dominant side in the league and not have them dubbed Bradbury's (although some people still tried to call Geelong Bradbury's in 07).

i'd take either right now.

both have an upside. winning from minor prems means that most would have no question about your merit as the best team in the comp. The downside is that it has a real level of expectation that goes with it and losing after being minor prems is seen as a real let down.

winning from 8th would have a real excitement about it that your team and its followers would treasure for a while. imagine the fairytale finish of coming through as the underdog and the real surprise and thrill you would feel after everyone assuming you were just there to make up the numbers.

Agreed and a Flag is a Flag

From 8th.

Can you imagine the hysteria of grand final week after coming from 8th. Not to mention the size of the underdog tag once making it to the big dance.
To then pull it off would be the greatest thing ever.

Personally I would love that scenario. Especially as the amount of threads on here a predicting straight sets exits would be so fun to read. Not to mention the amount of stick you could give any number of mates, after knocking off all the more fancied sides to get there.

Yep, I'm sold.

Flag from 8th>>>>>sliced bread.

Sort of sums up why so many Hawks have gone a bit troppo since last September.

The thing about this is that in both options, you gain the exact same thing, a premiership, however they are two completely different emotions.

Minors: The overriding emotion is relief. You have gone through the whole season being the best team in the comp, you have been shitting yourself all week at work, and you know that you have everything to lose. When the siren sounds and you finally know that you've done it, and that nothing can take it away, all you really feel is relief.

8th: The season has been very up and down. You win games you sometimes shouldn't win, but then you lose games against the lesser teams. You finally just manage to scrape in to the 8. After that, every game you are the underdog with nothing to lose. Every game throughout the finals series is just a bit of fun, really. Then, when you win it, the emotion is just disbelief. You don't realise exactly what you have achieved, because you haven't been the best team all year, yet you are the champions of the league.

I don't know if that actually makes sense, but that is what I think.

Premierships a premiership! Doesnt matter how you get there IMO, only counts whose name gets on the cup. Id take either :)
though i spose coming from 8th would have even more significance, and would also put you in the history books...

Agreed.

Either way the end result is the same, so the difference is in the journey. I'd rather see my side win 18 times in the home and away season rather than 12-13, so I'll go with total domination :D.
