Still in Year 11, but doing Year 12 History (Revolutions).

Results thus far....A on the short answer test, A on the graphic analyis and A+ on the essay. Both A's were about one mark off an A+

Majorly stressing about the exam at the end of the year....:( I hate to imagine what I'll be like next year!

Hehe. Don't worry. Last year in revs I was getting B's and C's throughout the year. Got a score of 35 in the end. I was stressing about the exam (it was my last one, a week after my previous exam), when I walked out I thought I buggered it up. With scores like A's during the year, you should get a great score.

I still can't believe how much people stress about year 12. For years all I was told is how much work it was gonna be. You know what?? I didn't do ANY homework until the start of Term 4. No studying for SACS, nothin. I got 87 and am more than happy in second year uni. If I did work during the year I may have got low 90's, but why stress when it doesn't make that much difference? Someone asked above if they should drop a subject they're struggling at - yes, drop it. If ur struggling u won't do well at it anyway and it will only affect ur other subjects. My attitude towards study may not be the best in the world, but one thing I do know, is don't bother with ****e that ur strugglin with. Drop it and concentrate on what will get u ur best marks...

Mwah!! Your school must have marked hard on the SAC's...

I got mainly A+'s, and a few A's for methods, and then A+ and A for the exam and only got 38. Mwahhh :( :(

Aussie History while I was in year elevn springs to mind. A+ for the sacs, buggered up the exam, 38.

You year 12 students will see the bigger picture once you get your tertiary placements. The scores mean nothing, it's getting to where you want to be that matters. All the scores do is allow the tertiary institutions to 'select' students. When you get there, yuo'll realise the stressing over scores was a huge waste of time and effort. Jus do your best :)

Yeah...like everyone tells me, your scores during the year are a good indication of what you'll get in the exam, but I am convinced I'm just gonna bugger up the exam, buckle under the pressure or something!

Yes, "once you get your tertiary placements," being the operative statement. We have to get there first Daics.

It's all well and good Pies Rock to say you can do nothing and get an ok score. But when your course needs 99, that isn't much comfort.

If you want it that badly, there is usually a way to get it. One of my mates from school wanted to do Law, but didn't get the Marks to get in, so instead of changing his mind, he tried to find other ways of getting in. He did an Arts/Journalism course the next year and did some of the units in that degree that he would have needed to do in his first year of Law. So this year he applied to transfer into law with a high average and not only did he get in, but he also got credit towards his degree from the units he had already done.

I got a TER of 93.5 and needed 92 to get into my course at UWA, so I cut it pretty close. But like alot of people have said, looking back everyone built up year 12 to be a big thing, where as now I look back on it and it wasn't that big at all. Just try and get the marks to get you into what you want, but if that doesn't work, it's not the end of the world.

Don't stress everyone, it's nearly over! thank god!

I'm worried about the end of year exams, because I don't perform too well under exam conditions, but I've been doing really well in the SACs. The only subject I really need to pick up in is Economics, but the other subjects, particularly legal and politics, I'm doing well in.

Good luck to everyone! One more term and then ROLL ON SCHOOLIES WEEK! :D

Exactly. And even if we don't get into the course we want, do another course for a year and then defer. It's all good :)

My Results

Biology A+
Japanese Advanced A
Maths 1 B+
Advanced English A+
Information Technology A+

I'd say im pretty happy, but I was robbed by my Maths Teacher.

With all these A's and A+'s I'm starting to wonder whether bigfooty has the most intelligent group of year 12's in Victoria or if Hoppers Crossing S.C is robbing us? Rarely do we get an A, B is looked at as a really good score and the majority of marks given out would be C's. I think there were only 2 A's given out in the whole of year 12 for our mid-year English SAC. Do most of you go to Private schools?

Well, school's back, but I'm not. What a bad time to cop a massive dose of sinusitis, and start hurling everywhere and have migranes. Even two days missed in a row can be bad, but hopefully I'll be right to head back tomorrow, even though I know it'll be hard after two weeks of sleeping in. ;)

As Meg said, not long to go now. Basically this term, then a few weeks of revision after the September holidays (remember to enjoy those holidays by going to the Melbourne Show and seeing the Hawks win the flag), and then the all important exams. Just think that after exams, you're free for about four months! :D

What marks are you getting in Legal?

Apart from one SAC, which I didn't really study for, I've pretty much been getting full marks. I'm finding that it's getting harder though. I have one on Thursday which is basically on tribunals and their relationship with courts and I need to knuckle down for that one!

As for my year 11 subjects... I wont go there ;)

Bludge your year 11 subjects all you can. Relax, relax, relax, and as long as you pass, and get an S, it doesn't matter. Year 11 was the biggest bludge year of my life and I LOVED it!

 Well done. ;) I don't think anyone has got full marks for any of our legal SAC's we've done so far.

I'm starting to think we have some pretty corrupt teachers. Most of our legal SAC's are out of 30 and she won't give anyone higher than a 26-27 (because you can always extend it and get a better answer!:mad: ). Most people end up in the teens or low 20's somewhere which she reckons is a "good score". We work our asses off, too, writing 3-4 pages in the one period for them!

Our mid-year English SAC's were moderated today and I got lifted to an A, so at least somethings going right.

By the way, we don't get told our exact marks on SAC's. School policy is that because the results can be changed by VBOS, they don't want to give a possible incorrect result. So I can't say "I got 27/30" or something, I have to guess from a feedback sheet we get.

Kinda sucks, but thems the breaks.

Back to school today. :(

I'm sure you'll do really well. Basically, it all comes down to the exam. I have a friend who was doing 3/4 legal last year, and throughout the whole year, in their SACs, they were getting an average of half out of whatever it was out of... so like 15/30 for every SAC, which isn't so great. She ended up aceing the exam, and she got a 39, which is pretty damn good. So as long as you do well on the exam, you'll be cool :)

I haven't picked up the semester one report yet but based on my exam marks and marks during the term, this is how I think I'll go in the report:

English: "B"...
I had some very high marks during the year in this subject but I think my low exam mark as well as getting some low C's late in the year has lowered my semester mark a fair bit.

Physics: "C" ...
I was on a B in the first term, but my low exam mark would have definately lowered my first semester mark.

Applicable Maths: "B" ...
After sitting on a borderline B/C during the year, my exam mark was surprisingly high, which should see me achieve a B on my report.

Geography: "B/C" ...
In year 11, I dropped economics to take up geography (because the economics teacher was an absolute dumbarse) and I have regretted this decision ever since. I reckon I could be getting an A in economics, but in geography I am on a borderline B or C at the moment.

Chemistry: "B" ...
I should be getting an A in this subject. It has always been one of my strong subjects but for some unknown reason I am below par this year.

At the beginning of the year I was aiming to get a TER of 96% to get into physiotherapy at Curtin, however with my current set of marks, this appears unlikely. I was thinking that I could try to get into sports science at UWA (which requires a TER of 90% ??) and then do a post-graduate in physiotherapy at Curtain (if I don't get a TER of 96%).

My advice to people studying year 11 or lower would be just to cruise your way through and enjoy it while it lasts.

I was unable to write the semester one exams because I tore a ligament in my right thumb, so I had to have a scribe which was very awkward. If I was able to write, I definately think I would have done much better. My advice to the people studying in year 12 would be not to go breakdancing before the exam, because it will end up being very costly in your exam marks :D.

I am extremely glad I live in WA at the moment because when I finish school I will still be 16 (I turn 17 in December), whereas if I was attending school in the eastern states I would be 17 or 18 when I finish. :)

i think everyone who has been through it has already said this..
its not the end of the world.. i ended up getting a HSC TER much lower than i needed/desperately wanted...

had to opt for another course that i didnt wanna do...
just plugged away for a year... applied for a transfer... got rejected.. plugged away for another year, ended up having results worse than my first yr.. applied for a transfer again and surprisingly, i got in !! (was also working part-time as well, building up the work experience along the way, which some uni's take note of)...

so, do your best, study hard... but its not the end of the world if things dont work out.. there are many ways of getting into the course/occupation u want..

hehe.. tyson.c...
if i had the talent & size of t.chandler, or e.curry, i'd drop outta high school and join the scum of the earth crims and felons(iverson, g.robinson etc etc) and earn a minimum wage anytime ! (nba min. wage that is...)
