The crushing realisation that your childhood dreams will not, can not, ever be achieved.

I used to dream of captaining Australia in the cricket. Of scoring a ton at Lords as a dashing number 4. I know that will never happen...

I used to dream of kicking the winning the goal in grand final for the hawks. Was gonna break Tucky's 426 game record. That'll never happen either...

I used to dream of winning the US Masters golf tournament; pipping the Shark in a playoff. That'll never happen (because the Shark has got no hope of contending for a tournament these days)...

Yes at the ripe old age of 25, senility beckons.

Where's my pipe and slippers...:(

MY DREAM IS STILL ALIVE!!!

1) Kicking the winning goal for the Pies in the GF against Carlton or Essendon.

2) Getting a hat-trick for Newcastle Utd at St James' Park against Man Utd.

3) Playing in the Boomers team that beats the USA in the Olympics.

Well I know at least three of those are impossible, but at the age of 17, anything can happen........

That's the spirit!!!

Good on ya!!

Go you good thing go!!

I'll reach my dream...hopefully...

Become a sports journalist. I am kind of doing it for Hawthorn, but I don't know if that is really journalism, although I do do articles. my other dream is to live in Brighton...which I suppose is the easiest...but more expensive dream.

Dreams are achieveable...

...fantasies are impossible. :D

I feel old whenever people start referring to the 1980s as "nostalgia". When bogan hair metal is played on "classic rock" radio stations. When I go into a supermarket and above the cigarettes it says "you must have been born on or before this date in 1983 to purchase".

Good God, only four months until I turn 25. I'm nearly halfway to 50 already....

my dream as a kid was to play footy at the highest level. and to one day, win a premiership for the pies.
after a few knee and ankle injuries, its not looking good!
oh well.....i will just have to stick with my other dream, and thats get my golf handicap to scratch, and play competition golf at the highest level.
or highest level in australia...which isnt that high!

You know you're old when .....

Last Saturday watching the game and reminiscing with a few mates about our "legendary" grand final some years ago, and your 7 year old nephew turns and asks you "Uncle .... what's a drop kick ?" - now that hurt!

He also couldn't believe that I used to kick footy's with Jason Dunstall as a kid. (My nephew is fully aware that Dunstall is retired, on TV, and old enough to be losing his hair !!!)

:( :( :(

Well, my childhood dream (we're talking as a 4 year old), was to be a princess... at 19... well there's still time, William is, afterall, only a month or two younger than me.

But seriously, my real childhood dream was to be a teacher like my mother. And that dream is still alive if I can get back into uni next year. Only difference is I want to be a highschool english teacher rather than a primary teacher.

I guess I didn't aim very high in my dreams, but I like my dreams.

As for what's making me feel old(er than I was) is my friends getting married, having children, getting REAL jobs, finishing uni.

re:

I think teaching is an admirable dream. In terms of "making a difference", you can't get a much greater influence on someone than teaching them to read and write.

In fact, I've applied to go back to study for two years to become a teacher at the ripe old age of 26......

You know you've getting old when.....who the hell is Jessica Simpson? Bart's long-lost sister?

cheers

Its an oldy but true, when the coppers are younger than you whilst you get a free ride in the divy wagon:D

Life begins at 50......

And so do wrinkles, arthritis, haemorroids, chills, backaches, leg cramps and liver spots....

I knew I was getting old when Nick Davis started playing for Collingwood, and I could remember his dad playing!

Tell me THAT didn't hurt!
