Listen to the commentary. Basically they are saying he is ducking. There was one free kick in that. The third one. The fourth was a howler and the Draper one definitely happens regularly. Nothing even in that.
Naughton states that he ‘draws free kicks’ so either he is ducking or putting on Mayo or the umpires are clearly looking to get him free kicks.

I would argue that the rest of the data confirms the stochastic nature of FK numbers- they are all hugging zero within a pretty tight distribution.
That fits with experience- footy is a pretty chaotic event with players and umps highly fallible. I expect FK differentials to tend close to zero with time.
The presence of a single huge discontinuity in both directions for the tigers and dogs is massively suspicious next to the rest of the data.
And as you point out, there is plenty of data here, I would not have an issue if we got this distribution from 5 FKs, but from hundreds of FKs..nup, it’s weird

Do you have a theory as to why we aren't dealt with by the higher authorities for playing rugby as opposed to Aussie Rules? Why do you think the AFL allows us to play week in and week out under a different set of rules. I'd love your take as you seem like a reasonable and sensible human being.
Spin it any way you like mate. I can spin it my way and post a highlights reel of the day of Rohan, Tippett, Papley and McGlynn. Except I couldn't find highlights of anything they actually did. Even the worst Dogs player on the day, Stringer, had his moments. Can't win a GF with at least 4 passengers on the day.

im just so happy we chose Pickett instead of weightman in the draft. I'd hate to support a club that has the worst stager in the game. And then celebrates gifted goals that any amateur footy player could kick. Unfortunately his reputation is forever blemished and he only has himself to blame.

And if that’s not an example of blatant favouritism or a contravention of neutrality then I don’t know what is. You can’t come out and say those things, as an AFL commissioner. You can’t state that you want a certain club to win.
Coupled with the fact they received an unbalanced number of free kicks in the GF, and the AFL then came out and ‘apologised’ for ‘poor umpiring’.
I am sorry, but that’s terribly unacceptable for a senior official. With everything that came about to see them make a GF, then get kissed on the rear from a free kick perspective, it’s more than coincidental.

Of course if Jack Macrae takes possession gets tackled, flops, either gets a free or no call is made it’s hard for him to give away a free kick in the circumstance isn’t it?

tbh I’ve crapped on and on about the Dogs and their BS for a while now if some of them just accepted and admitted yep we do it and we do it to try and get an advantage you’d understand but they act like flat earthers and pretend it doesn’t exist
