You'll never guess what the 2021 free kick differential chart looks like

If I got stitched like the Swans did by the umps in a grand final and lost the game, I'd never let it go.

I’ve let it go now. What makes me sleep easy now is The Tin Rattlers are being reminded 5 years down the track by neutrals that they played with 25 and Gil was first emergency. If that’s how you win a flag all power to them.

Well when you have Macrae, Hunter and Weightman running around for 2 hours looking to drop their knees and throw their heads back then I'm not remotely surprised. All 3 are a disgrace to the game. Not to mention Toby McLean. And then you throw in Bontempelli who gets so much protection from the umps it's laughable. I swear they go into each game trying to find ways not to pay dropping the ball against Bont. Brownlow is definitely his because the umps are always looking out for him, even if subconsciously.
Here he is crying about the Bulldogs in yet another thread.

I’ll also say though, if Melbourne win a flag like that I couldn’t give a sh**. I’ll take it any way it comes haha.

Yeah the umpiring sucked, but get over it....

"The league has reviewed the umpiring from the Grand Final and found that there were three to four decisions that were incorrect that went against the Sydney Swans."

"The AFL review did not deem the overall umpiring performance to be poor, but the league’s view was that it was beneath the level expected"
Which of those 3/4 decisions led to goals?

Dog's supporters: "It's because the opposition are undisciplined"

Technically above the knee.

Good decision. Play on.

Biggest myth in football is the umpiring in the 2016 grand final. Dogs played a brand of football conducive to high/in the back frees.

Plus, an all Sydney Grand Final means far more to the AFL than a small, suburban battler saluting once in a blue moon. Any potential AFL conspiracy to affect an outcome would favour the Sydney sides.

that game was a massive cheatathon

20-8 frees in favour of the Dogs

The first one is laughable - Mclean gets to the footy cleanly and Jack runs into him a good second after he has trapped the ball because he was over committed. Sliding rule is for making contact below the knees not for someone running into you when you've already got the ball and have stopped moving.
Most of the push in the back 'frees' are clear dives with all of the momentum coming from the player getting tackled not the tackler. Not a really a great showcase.

Exactly. It’s fecking Footscray. It’s QAnon levels of crazy to think the AFL was not only desperate for us to win in 2016 but also has systematically architected an umpiring conspiracy to ensure a successful Footscray. All this favoritism for us whilst trying to establish 2 new franchises. We’re really not that important to the success of the AFl.

Dogs have lost the free kick count the last couple of weeks and struggled.
Really think you’re doing your own team a disservice. We struggled because Hawks were better than us and we played crap. We didn’t lose the game because we lost the free kick count, we lost the free kick count because we were crap. Losing the free kick count is a symptom not the cause.
The Bulldogs 1 wood is it’s midfield and particularly their clearance work. When that goes to complete shit like it has recently it likely has a knock on effect on lots of stats including frees for and against.
I suspect the answer to the Bulldogs free kick differential lays somewhere in our style of play when we’re up and about.
I don’t know but I assume the trend in positive free kick differential started under Bevo as the impact of his playing style and discipline took effect. Was it even a thing before 2016?

4th time in the past 6 seasons the dogs have won this count

Very interesting
Bevo has been our coach for seven years. There is your answer. It’s something to do with his playing style and he is also known to install onfield discipline. He goes crazy when dum frees are given away.

Yeah to be honest I have no idea the reason, but the statistics are insane

To put it into perspective, the Dogs have lost the free kick count just 35 times in their past 133 games, essentially 1 in 4 games

All I can say is the AFL are shit at this conspiracy stuff. We haven’t even won a final since 2016, they’d better up their ****ing game.

Obviously the timekeeper at the GABBA didn’t get the memo. Or the umpires in that same game who gave Berry that free kick for Cole sneezing on him.

Sort your shit out, Gil!

Not that I agree....but the EPL had just had their biggest windfall in years with Leicester winning the title.

They explained their huge boost as being a result of renewed interest and re-engagement from the millions of fans that saw the EPL as a contrived comp where only the big clubs could win.
