On the RWO site there is some good news coming out about a couple of Rookies.

Phillips and Rowe a small forward and ruckman seem to be catching the eye.

Anyone got any mail on the rookies and other listed players waiting in the wings.

Currie also gets a mention and hopefully Shaw will be able to break into the team by seasons end.

From what I've seen, Phillips is the most impressive of the rookies at the moment. Keep in mind though that I haven't seen Currie play as he has been injured. Phillips reads the flight of the ball very well, he knows when to go for the mark or when to stay down and crumb the loose ball. He's also a very good mark for his size (173 / 65). Rowe has been okay but from what I've seen the ruckman in AFL Canberra don't really provide much opposition. Shaw is still being slowly eased back into it after his injury so I haven't seen much of him, but his tapwork is excellent.

The other two rookies worth mentioning are Kieran Jack and Adam Prior. Jack's has been playing as the small defender and he's been very solid, he always provides a good contest and has provided good run out of the backline. He also possesses a low trajectory left footed kick. Prior has been playing as the 3rd forward and kicked quite a few goals. Not quite tall enough to play as a key forward (188 / 93), he takes many contested marks but whether he can do that at a higher level remains to be seen.

Oh, and keep an eye out for Laidlaw. This boy is very quick, he looks like he's gliding across the field when he turns the turbo on. Has a pretty hefty kick too.

Prior impressed me in the NAB cup. Didn't get much of the ball, but led very well and took a few solid grabs on the lead.
