I can't remember the last time I sat down to catalog my CD collection... would be a nightmare now, I seem to walk away from CD shops with 1-2 CDs a week! :D Not good when you're trying to save money.... But worth it anyway!

My collection has a fair bit of variety in it. Mostly alternative rock, with some classic rock, some heavy metal, and even a decent number of pop albums. I'm fairly non-discerning when it comes to genres, if I like the music, I don't care if it's rap, metal, electronica or pop.

Cd collection to big to be bothered losting all of em, here is a list of ones that get played the most though.

Dropkick Murphys- Sing Loud, Sing Proud
Dropkick Murphys- Live on St Patricks Day
Dropkick Murphys- Blackout
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes- Blowing in the Wind
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes- Take a Break
Sevendust- Animosity

Area 7- Say it to my face
Area 7- Bitter and Twisted
ACDC- Live
Frenzal Rhomb- Mans Not a camel

Plus a few compilation cd's

I've probably got about a thousand CDs all up... Mostly classical, rock & metal, jazz, and post-rock. Got some folk and world music and trance and othher stuff amongst it all.

Ive got around about a thousand cds so im not even gonna bother writing them up here. Would take about a week. Ive got about 400 metal/hard rock cds and about 600 dance cds (mainly drum n bass, progressive, breaks and obscure electronica stuff)

sadly... i havent bought a CD in years! i have an absolute sh**load but i stopped buying cds since i discovered the internet and mp3s.... i know its sad that it robs artist of hard earned income but i cant afford cds anymore!

im sure the artists still get by quite nicely :)

Strangely, I feel no guilt whatsoever in downloading free music tracks.

For the first 500 CDs I owned. I paid an exorbitant 25-odd bucks each. Since good old Napster came along four years ago, and was subsequently followed by Morpheus, I-Mesh and Kazaa, that tally has doubled.

Interestingly, those 50 were actually purchased because I'd downloaded part or all of an album and decided that it was simply that good, I must have the store-quality version.

Anyway, I figure 15-ish grand is a fair whack for a thousand or so CDs.

Someone's making some dough out of me somewhere.

Fortunately, EYeBaLL, all of our musicians are completely non-capitalistic and do it only for the intrinsic value or the musical integrity .... or to get chicks.

I do download songs from time to time but when I do it, it's to check out a new band in view to buy their cd. I've definitely bought MORE cds since the internet.

I'm the type of sad barsteward who catalogues his CD collection, so cut and paste ... :o

Ray, your collection sort of resembles mine. Even if we don't have many of the same cds we have many of the same themes.

Ummm, I have over 400. All catalogued and in alphabetical order.

Might have to do the cut and paste at a later date. Although - this thread has been done before - sometime last year.

Recent purchases include:

Hoy Hoy - Don't tell Frank.
Wedding Parties Anything - Best of
De La Soul - Timeless.

nice cd collection ray...obviously a huge oasis fan i guess.

anyways, just wondering what your favourite charlatans album is...(i've only really heard 'the charlatans' & 'up to our hips', which i really like, as well as their 'best of' stuff)
and how their new stuff compares to their older stuff.

I do the same. If I'm interested in a band I'll download a few songs and listen to them for a while, see if I like them then go buy a CD or two of theirs. Works well. :)

Yep, I'm mad fer it when it comes to Oasis.

My favourite Charlatans album would be 'The Charlatans'. It was Rob Collins last album (he was killed in a car crash whilst recording "Tellin' Stories") and the organ sound that is the bands signature really comes through on this album. I think all of the songs are really strong on this one - some of The Charlies most classic songs are on here like "Just When You're Thinkin' Things Over", "Crashin' In", "Here Comes A Soul Saver", "Just Lookin'", "Feelin' Holy", etc. I think it is the definitive Charlatans album.

The new stuff I think compares well to the old stuff. The last 2 studio albums have been fairly different. 'Us And Us Only' is a very Dylanesque album, with a very folky, acoustic sound. Some top songs on it though, 'Forever' & 'Senses' being the best. 'Wonderland' was a whole different direction, a lot of 70's funk influence with Tim Burgess singing falsetto on most of the songs (sounds like he's on helium at times!). The emphasis is on groove, it's a real party record. Standout's on this one would be 'You're So Pretty-We're So Pretty', 'Judas' & 'A Man Needs To Be Told'.

Yeah, I'm quite liking Ray's taste too! Oasis, Blur, Powderfinger, Motor Ace, The Strokes...

One thing Ray, you don't have the Motor Ace EP or Five Star Laundry? They're awesome, and so much better than Shoot This.

Hmm, before the start of last year I owned a whole lot of chart ****e (Craig David, Mya, Destiny's Child, Madison Avenue, BSB, Britney, a stack of 100% Hits, you get the idea)...so I won't bother with that. But my last 20 or so include:

Train - Drops of Jupiter
Lifehouse - No Name Face
Motor Ace - Five Star Laundry
Motor Ace - EP (does it have a title? Mine's burnt.)
incubus - Morning View
Lifehouse - Stanley Climbfall
Matchbox 20 - More Than You Think You Are
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way
U2 - The Best of 1990-2000 (actually wanted the best of the '80s, but that's what I ended up with. :o)
Jimmy Eat World - Jimmy Eat World
Bush - Razorblade Suitcase
Goo Goo Dolls - Gutterflower
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
Oasis - Be Here Now
Oasis - The Masterplan
Oasis - Heathen Chemistry
Motor Ace - Shoot This
Powderfinger - Odyssey Number Five
Blur - The Best of
Powderfinger - Vulture Street
Lifehouse - Spin (single)

My music taste is broader than that, but I tend to download mp3s and burn mixes. As soon as I have the money, I'm going to go buy the first three Powderfinger albums, the latest Placebo one, and any Blur that the store has. () Plus there's a whole huge list of other ones I want. :o :(

only have 50 or so....but cant be bothered listing them all....so i will name my fav 15...

Alice in Chains - FaceLift
Alice in Chains - Mtv Unplugged
Audioslave - Selftitled
Foo Fighters - Nothing Left to Lose
Jet - Get Born

Pearl Jam - Ten
Pearl Jam - Vs
Pearl Jam - Bootleg #72 Seattle 2000
