cancelled my round this weekend National :(

The National is just about the only course I haven't played in that area of the world...how easy will it be to get on in the next couple of weeks? Played Dunes most recently, had a great time there...

its pretty busy as you can imagine atm. i reckon membership would skyrocket just before summer.

everyday ONE course is open all day for guests. on the same day, one of the other courses is open from midday onwards, and the third course is members only.

are you friends with a member neroblack >? if i recall correctly guests must be accompanied by a member

Not that I'm aware of, no. I've got plans to get on a few courses over the break that I haven't played on yet, including Settlers Run and Growling Frog. The National would be great, I've played Cape Schanck, Moonah Links, Dunes and Eagle Ridge and had a great time..

oh. you can ring the club and try your luck. im not sure guests can play by themselves without a member booking them in (and thusly playing with them).

ive just logged into the website and had a look at a few days bookings. every slot where guests are are accompanied by a member.

ive taken many friends down. club rules sez you can only bring the same guest i believe 8 times a calendar year.

Would that be the case for every course, that a guest must me accompanied by a member of the golf club?

No idea.

First time I've ever heard of it, let alone played in one.

Maybe Wangs Parking Lot knows?
4BBB stroke is the same as 4BBB stableford except you take the best nett stroke score per hole not best stableford points.
It is played in pairs so if your first hole is a par 4 and you get a shot on the hole and your partner doesn't and you make pars, your score would be recorded as you have had a nett birdie.
The only difference to this is a 4BBB Stroke aggregate in which case both your nett scores are added up at the end of the round and that's you're aggregate score..
Hope this helps :thumbsu:

Might have actually located a member (through a mate) tonight, so will see what I can sort out! :thumbsu: In the meantime I'll have to deal with playing Yering tomorrow!

lucky we have great public courses! moonah links is a fine course

Just a shame it's on the other side of town for me, hopefully one day I'll trek down and play it.

great course. clubhouse overlooking the rolling hills lush with harmonious tree and plant alike. lots of h20

So 4BBB Stroke.

First game in a while so i thought it'd be a rough start, but i actually started well, going through the first four holes square with the card.

5th is a 160m par 3 over water. Hit a 6 iron into a bit of a breeze and it faded in nicely to 8-10ft. Hit the putt where i wanted to, but a touch too firm, caught the lip and shot out to 2ft. Went to tap it in and lipped it out again. From there on it just got worse.

My partner was off 9, so we didn't have much handicap between us to work with.

Highlight of the day was back at the clubhouse. There having a few beers and this bloke walks in with his hat on. :D

Free beers :thumbsu:.

Enjoyed myself there this morning, after I got over finding the water twice in the first three holes. Played 10 to 27 today, and holes 24 to 27 are pretty challenging. Great course though, visitors can get on for $75 on weekends now..

Played 9 holes today before dinner.

+6 (42). Ball striking was great. Putting was awful. Went with the driver three times... each one went right.
