Need all the thoughts and prayers you guys can muster. I figure I am worth about 3 good drives on Monday.

He needs to carry us the rest of the way.

Will try to post a photo here and there. Need to get him with Payne again...odds the boy lifts the wrong leg again? ;)

Dog day at Peninsula-Kingswood GC (South course). 12 on the front, was ok i guess given i avg mid 20s atm. 8 on the back (3 on the last) made it look better than it really was. Struggled with every club bar putter. Hooking eerything and no confidence over the ball

I think I have been disowned :(

I was responsible for 3 drives. I put 2 drives into the Village of Pinehurst. I then put both provisionals deeper into the Village of Pinehurst. In my defense, they were beautiful looking shots as they made their way towards various homes.

At the last hole I was responsible for I pulled out 6 iron and it went 210 right down the middle of fairway. I got the--"umm why didn't you do that before" :)

I had fun and he seemed to acknowledge I may be his father ;)

He has the team event tomorrow morning

Had fun at team event today.

Taking day off tomorrow other than maybe some putting. I want him to just go have fun. Swim, etc...

Morning wave on Thursday, 8:42am off number 10

Shot an 86. He self destructed on 8 and 9 (our 17 and 18) for a 6 and 7 respectively. Just got very sideways with his attitude.

Had looks at birdie from 8-10 feet on holes 1,3,4,5,6,7 which was our back nine. Not one dropped and he managed to turn a beautiful shot on the par 3 into a three putt bogey.

Just wanted to be a sour puss to finish out and easily dropped 30-40 spots.

Learning experience for sure. I can understand bad shots, etc.. but negative attitude just kills him.

Still in struggle town with back and knee, and this poxy cold weather has kept me away, playing this weekend at Lara with one of my social clubs, a goat track but it is flat and will help me ease in after a month out.

Not expecting miracles, just happy to get out there.

Where the bloody hell are ya?

BTW mate, the Ocean course is being ripped up. Remember when we played, the first, a helicopter came down and landed neat the first tee? lol

Also btw....Royal Melboune on Monday.

Shot a 45 at Hillview public yesterday after work. It was pissing rain half the time and course was soggy but I think it was somehow the best round Ive ever played. Things are starting to come together I feel with my game. I think a turning point has been my driving. A few weeks ago it was absolutely shithouse. I actually gave up using the driver and going with the 3 wood. Id struggle to find a fairway, and my slice was epic. But since Ive started to choke up on the grip take a narrower stance and focus on a smooth swing with loose wrists and arms I am able to drive straight mostly now. My swing is more of an iron swing. Probably not correct, and my distance is shit, but I feel if I can hit the fairway in a good spot Im a decent chance for par or bogey. I love hitting my piece of shit hybrid off the deck, and I think chipping is my strength. Putting is terrible but Im going to get to work on that.

Really enjoying this hobby now. I bought prepaid green fees at Hillview and pop there after work 3-4 days a week now. Might buy a new driver in the next few months to replace my second hand piece of turd Maxfli

IMG_8675.JPG Got a little cranky and tired down the stretch of Round 3. Five straight bogeys took him out of the 70's to finish with an 84.

Went 86-72-84, tied 90th and 68th best American. Finished one stroke ahead of the Aussie ;)

Really proud of his first time down there--72 showed he can contend if he gets his emotions more under control.

Capped it off with long trek to subregional Drive, Chip, Putt competition this afternoon. Damn kid went out won the thing. So now will be 1 of 10 boys in his age group at the Regional Championship at Muirfield Village. Win there and he makes it to Augusta in April.

What a year for him so far.

(Letting him play US Kids local event next Sunday because he loves the course it's at--then Dad is sitting him down until mid September from competitive golf)

So... how did you go?

I literally drive past Royal Melbourne every week and it kills me that it's unlikely i'll ever get to play there.

Hi Pickles,

Fun, and hard. The greens, the hallmark of the course, were rock hard. ANything that landed on it rolled and rolled. No pitch marks as a result. OK there were two temp greens forward of the original green but meh, and two relaid greens that resembled carpet tiles with lots of sand. Bumpy.

Bunkers, perfect. Fluffy. Fairway bunkers were interesting, large and significant.

If you take the wind out of equation the greens were slick.

Tea trees and natural fauna beautiful.

I lost prob 6 balls due to shit shots, slices and hooks.

When walking the fairways we wondered how the pros play the hole. There are a few blind shots over hills where the fairway runs out quicky. We imagined pros using irons off the tee at times, but able to drive holes on others.

Having now played both, the west is fun and challenging. The east, whilst good isnt as good. However 18 east is a great finishing hole slight uphill towards the clubhouse.

I enjoyed the day despite descending formwise as the day progressed.

PS: practice greens, 18 holes. There were movable plates signifying 1-18 and directing you in various directions.

oh yeah, both courses you have to walk over cheltamham rd.
Fave hole is the 5th par 3.

Was supposed to play Sunday at Queens Park Geelong, but spending the week in the Northern hospital with multiple blood clots on my lungs has put a stop to it rather quickly. May not play for a while now :(
