Haven’t played comp in a month although I’m first off at a sparrow’s fart on Saturday morning.

Went out last Sunday late in the day for 18. Shot 87 off the stick and I think 43 points based on handicap the last comp round I played.

The gap between my best and worst holes has shrunk a lot and my trust in about half a dozen clubs is quite high.

Borrowed a mate’s driver - it’s a Nike, the shaft is cut down a bit so feels more like a hybrid in length. It’s knocked maybe 20 yards off my drives but I have a lot more confidence in my accuracy.

Gentile stroll around peninsula, played some holes. Enjoyed it, quiet and no one within 2 holes of me.

Do you play Gunnamatta very often? What're your thoughts on it?

I believe i play Old the most, then moonah and gunna last. Gunna seems to be the most popular hence opening slots on the other courses.

Gunna is ok. Some real challenging holes. The greens are pure and up there with Peninsula Kingswood. off the tee its blast away as fairways are wider than wide. Its the second or third shot that is the test (landing it on the right side of the green).

Its more forgiving than the Ocean course for sure.

Have been playing ok since we've been back but god my Driving off the tee has been woeful. I have somehow discovered this nasty snap hook and I just can't shake it. Will be jumping on youtube tonight to see how I can fix this then go to the range tomorrow to try and adjust. Frustrating round with a mate today at Freeway where majority of my drives were snap hooking

45 at Whaleback this morning. Best I’ve possibly ever hit the ball, except for my chipping and putting which let me down big time. Hit 5/7 fairways. Have got complacent with my short game spending 90% of my practice time on the range instead.

Trust me mate, YouTube is not the answer. Get a pro to have a look. [emoji106]

All about Scrappy junior today. Beat old man Scrappy for the first time by 2 and Uncle Scrappy by 1. He had 83. First time on a decent course under 90. He had doubles on the last 3 holes which made it closer. Bombed it on the front 9 he did.

How old is he? Just so I can prepare myself for when my time comes.

He aint that junior anymore...19...but in fairness..he was good as a primary kid but spent the last 10 years trying to make it in cricket. Golf is something that he does occasionally. Hes got all the latest stuff...looks the part. describes himself as....All the gear but no idea!

The National tomorrow. BACK BABBBBBY!!
Good luck. I played last Wednesday for the first time in a while and had 37 points. After sinking a hard putt on the first for par I spent most of the round scrambling. You can’t not touch a stick for two weeks and expect to putt and chip well. However, my iron game was smick and the driver not too bad also.

Well after finding a rich vein of form for one whole non competitive round I got smashed in medal week.

103 off the stick. Yuck - 17 shot swing from my previous round. Couldn’t take a trick - two lost balls that weren’t even in the scrub, still no idea where they went, some horrible bounces. And I actually putted well.

Back to the drawing board.

Your not my brother are you?...he also lost 2 balls in our last game...he is pretty sure someone else hit his, as it was somewhat open where he hit it.....and other balls were there and players were walking off both times. He was pissed as a cut snake.

Had a crack at the pro shop (not at that). Tee time was 2.30......we were on the 4th tee at 4pm. Disgraceful.

ouch. We were first off the 1st tee on Saturday, 6.50am, raced around the front in about an hour 45 or something (three man group). As we got to the 11th when we started the back, we could see the equivalent group from the back 9 just finishing 16. Geez they must have taken their time. Sure enough we were backed up like a blocked toilet thereafter. Old codgers ftl

Our back nine was much better...the nine holers had gone home and it was far more pleasant.
