Mother by Pink Floyd - in fact, anything off the Wall album. Music to slit your throat by.

Anything written by Morrissey.

Bingo.

Depressingly superb. He's just saying what so many people are feeling, and he's saying it in a way that they can understand.

"I've seen this happen in other people's lives, and now it's happening in mine."

Also, most of Jeff Buckley's work is full of enough emotion to generate some sort of depression. Depending on my mood, 'Lover You Should've Come Over' can definitely be depressing.

That 'Lonely' song getting around ATM, seriously depresses me that there are so many ********ing moron's breathing perfectly good air that would buy such garbage.

3 Libras - A Perfect Circle
Black - Pearl Jam

The former is just a very well-written song with a forlorn tone, while the latter expresses desperation and hopeless regret really powerfully.

Agree on Johnny Cash, too, not that I have listened to him much. I always seem to cop his melancholy stuff, though.

Right on the money there. In my top 3 favourite songs of all time.

Add to that The Offspring - Gone Away...strikes a personal chord with me.

Forgot about that one. It's definitely up there, particularly the lines:

"Sometimes a man gets carried away, when he feels like he should be having his fun
And much too blind to see the damage he’s done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that really, he has no-one"

"Fade To Black" is like Shiney happy people compared to "atrocity exhibition" by Joy Division

Anything by Coldplay! You want someone to kill themselves? Lock them in a room with a Coldplay album on. Shouldn't take longer than a few minutes.
