Your World Cup XI? (sans Symonds)

Likely XI:

Gilchrist
Hayden
Ponting
Clarke
Watson
Hussey
White
Hogg
Lee
Bracken
McGrath

Tait
Haddin
Johnson
Hodge

White really doesn't deserve to be there whatsoever, but the selectors will probably pick him. He is our greatest liability, basically just filling a spot in the side and unlikely to be useful except for a quick 20 at the end of a big Australian total. Although watch him get 54 (20) against Namibia and the Victorians simultnaeously blow their load.

I totally agree with this post.

Nail Hammer Head

this should be the WC squad but i wouldn't be surprised if they picked Symonds just in case hes fit for the finals

you saw how NZ were running between the wickets - it was because they knew they didnt have Symonds to deal with...and thats just the tip of the iceburg

It's rubbish like this that tarnishes any credibility you may have and accumulates yellow cards.

Ha, its impossible for him to get a yellow card on this board

Interesting to see that none of the pre-tonight's game teams had Hodge in them, and virtually all post-game had him. What a difference 1 game makes....

Yes but that would also be because before last night there wasnt a spot, quite a few people still expected him to be in the squad but when Symonds was practically ruled out he took his shot, funny thing is last night was also the first time Hodgey has gone out to bat for Australia in an ODI knowing if he made runs he would keep his spot, before that it didnt matter whether he made 1 or 100 he was out the next game anyway

That's how I see it too.

Though will Symonds injury, selectors may not yet be convinced by Hodge & pick a batsman such as Vogues instead of Haddin.

Please explain what was incorrect about it.

Who does deserve it more?

Is he our greatest liability? When you consider Tait has had all of two games at this level, Hodge has made one score, ditto Hayden, Johnson and Clarke have been off the boil of late and Watson has barely played cricket at all in the past 5 months.

There are plenty of question marks over this team especially now the line up is pretty open because of Symonds. That said, your above point of view is not really a troll until now.....

Although watch him get 54 (20) against Namibia and the Victorians simultnaeously blow their load.
Now you're just deliberately being antagonistic. As a Victorian and Australian I would probably be happy if this happened, just like South Australians were probably happy when Gillespie got a double ton in Bangladesh.

A reasonable person wouldn't be hailing him as the messiah if this occurred and you know it thats why it is a troll.

The bottom line is I'm happy when Australian players do well, IDGAF where they come from or who they may be keeping out of the side.

Except Tait is a bowler, and we're talking about the batsmen, and every single batsmen you have mentioned is more consistent and has the performances on the board.

Even Hodge, with one score, has 2x50 more than White in what...less games?

I don't like Hodge, but I'd rather him than White. He is more likely to make a score.

Not at all, or you just don't know the Victorians on the board. There are quite a number who will be hailing him as the messiah if that happened. I'm not being antagonistic, I'm being serious. There's certain halfwits on here who are claiming him as a superstar already, although they've certainly got quieter since his abysmal efforts under pressure in our run-chases.

I personally think we will take an extra quick, just in case. Clark is in deep trouble; he's expensive and doesn't bowl enough wicket balls for my liking. Hogg adds some variety with his left-arm chinaman.

I've picked Hodge on the basis that Watson won't be fit.
