He won’t handle being the highest paid player and face of a club or cope with the criticism of a big club when he underperforms which is common. Hope the extra dollars is worth all the scrutiny, but being a money hungry pig, I doubt he’ll really like care just like Ah Chee.

Just remember, if you didnt take on Oscar Allen you could easily pay him what Adelaide are. Its not so much Adelaide screwing their cap, its Brisbane screwing theirs with silly purchases.
And as it stands, Adelaide has a ton of cap space due to the fact that we didnt have a heap of high paid players, and so we forward paid alot of our players on the list and so millions spare.

Adelaide has a ton of cap space, and has front ended alot of our players, so front ending Zac for three years will then give the club more cap space after that to get another big fish. Adelaide has managed its salery cap very well, and hasn't had to pay overs for the SA kids like Thilthorpe, who we are getting for unders. He is under a million a year, but if he had of put himself on the market he would be getting offers of 1.8-2.0m a year.

$1M is very common contract. Over 30 players are on $1M or more and there will be even more with the new CPA, even Brisbane have 2 of them and have offered Bailey $1M. Thilthorpe, Dawson and Rankine will be on $1M+ with their next contract. Thilthorpe will definitely get offered $1.5-2M on the open market though.

It's less about not being able to afford him, and more about not wanting to make him (easily) the highest paid player at our club. Neale has a contract in front of him but is probably on his way out; that money would comfortably cover the difference between what we're offering Bailey and what he'd accept.

Andrews and McCluggage are deservedly the highest players at the club and are reportedly making around $1mil a year. Paying Bailey the $1.4mil that Adelaide are would make him (IMO undeservedly) comfortably our highest paid player.

We won back to back flags and signed two big money free agents in positions of need. I think our cap management is fine.

Didn't Adelaide try to pay Petty $1 million a year? Part of Adelaide not "screwing" their cap is they've missed on some of their bigger $$ targets. Credit to them for appearing to get Bailey over the line.

He isnt getting a million a year over his contract period. Like I said, the Crows have a ton of cap space and have been front loading all their players to amass a large nest egg. They will do the same with Zac.
