We extended his contract mid way through to keep him longer - and Cocky was close to best 22 this year but its correct to say in 16 he was not.
That will change going forward. With Bartel probably going, and us needing more small forward type presence, he will get more games pumped into him.
Part of the issue was his endurance as well - which will improve with another off and preseason.

If Geelong get Tuohy for anythign less than a low-mid 20's pick - you make out like bandits - Carlton has mismanaged this one which is why you are a chance.

I agree and geelong are reasonable but if they cant get a 3rd club involved to grab a 20s pick (still think we will) and we cant convince any of our players to be included in the trade we will offer 38 plus some steak knives and thats about it.
Given zach approached us it is not as if we have been trying to prize him out. It will then be his choice whether he wants to go back to carlton (i would) or to try and get to geelong via the draft.

Yep - no evidence to suggest that Geelong are doing an Adelaide- beside Tuohy was 'apparently' low balled re pay. Would prefer he stayed - If Geelong do a deal - you get a better player than Henderson for peanuts.

Sounds like the Tuohy for Smedts deal has some serious legs which on the surface sounds bad. Tuohy was an international rookie, Smedts was a first-round selection so if you look at it that way it's not too shabby.
I am not enamoured with having Smedts at the club so I'll have to accept that our people will make the right decision.

Smedts was going to be a genuine star - and played like it for a while - injuries have set him back and what better place to recover than Princes Park Hospice?

Of course it's relevant, we took Tuohy on as a rookie and if we were to trade him for a first-round selection it's very smart trading.

You wouldn't trade Eddie Betts for Jack Trengove or Jonothan O'Rourke?
I'm not advocating the trading in of Smedts, just the fact that we should win out on our investment in Tuohy.
