I wouldn't even know their names if I didn't read forums ...... Anyway HTF wood I know and even more HTF would you guys know.

Bigger the better IMO :thumbsu:

This is the smartest post in the thread, well done and I encourage this kind of attitude :thumbsu:

It's all fun and games to talk about draft prospects, but some people get too caught up on a 2 minute highlights package from a single game - or even worse, a 50 word description on Big Footy. Most people are pretty open minded though.

So don't be stubborn with your opinions, take it as fun right now because we really don't have a clue what we are talking about.

Might as well ask a blind kid what his favourite colour is!

Sidebottom.....

then

Hartlett.

Hartlett is a better prospect than Sidebottom in my opinion.

Don't get fooled by all the Sidebottom hype going around. He's a great player, yes, but Hartlett absolutely oozes class.

Great disposal, great poise and decision making, and can win the hard ball too.

If he falls to our pick I'd love to see us pick up Hamish Hartlett.

geez you have a proplem.:thumbsu: its likely that one of these 2 will fall to our pick. i was asking which one you would want. you must never read the newspaper or listen to the radio when people talk and write up on the top draft picks:thumbsu:

so you dont want vickery? and id take hartlett and ziebell before sidebottom. but if we ended up with sidebottom id be happy.
if hurley falls to our pick we better not pass unless ziebel/hartlett/sidebottom are availble so then we can trade a defender to gc

I would much prefer an awesome mid/forward than a ruckman. I wont be dissapointed if we get Vickery but Port will def take him. They dropped Lade throughout last year and need a new ruckman far more than we do... so he'll be gone before ours.

Dont really want Hurley cos we really dont want another defender.

i agree i dont want hurley but carlton or essendon will pick him up. but if vickery is there he will be to good to pass up. if we get one of ziebell or hartlett our midfied will be alot better next year although might not get a game in rd 1 richmond might make them work for a game.:thumbsu:

I hope we can get Sam Wright in either our last pick or in the PSD because he is a gun for a half forward. Saw his highlights in the TAC GF on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yc4APqByO8
and he is what we could want with a late pick.
I like the way he busts through packs as well and plays well in front.
Our own version of dale thomas lol

Not fussed - will be happy with any one of the top 8 players picked in the draft. Although after watching the TAC cup grand final and the highlights many times im a bit of a Sidebottom fan. Great skills on both feet, can win contested footy, clever hands, great overhead, good up forward, elite endurance.

Either way Ziebell/Hartlett/Sidebottom should make our midfield top class over time. Deledio, Cotchin, Foley, Tuck, Sidebottom/Hartlett/Ziebell as our premier onballers would be nice. Could be up there with the Brisbane and West Coast premiership midfields.

Ziebell is the one that I want just over Hartlett.
But I think they will both be gone and we are left with Sidebottom who is probably a class under those two, but you haveto be pretty happy with that still

well said, i would love to make our midfield top class by getting another at pick 8. one of ziebell/hartlett/sidebottom will be there at pick 8. I'm not totally convinced on sidebottom tho, would perfer either hartlett or ziebell

ziebell for me, i am not a expert but from the little i have read and seen from all draft picks he is tall and most importantly a very hard tough mid that can go forward.
i saw a game at the champs he played were he totaly dominated WA? from sheer will and desire.

my sort of player

I am just going by what i have seen and read on both players.

The great thing about this draft i feel is, no matter who we get they are going to be a great player.

If i had my choice i would take Watts.

I would be happy with Ziebell, Hartlett, Sidebottom and Vickery. (not in that order)

There is alot of hype regarding Sidebottom becasue he has shown what he can do in big games. He can kick both sides perfectly and always makes the right decision.

Whoever we get, if they can chase and tackle i will be happy.

If Vickery falls to 8, i'd swoop on him quick smart if I was in charge of your recruiting.

Be interesting if he does.

BF groupthink had him going around 5-15 a month or so back, but of late he's moved up to be a 'sure thing' to go to Port at 4...I'm not so sure.

Largely it comes down to who wants a ruckman.

First 3 picks are probably too high ( although you could argue for the 'sure thing' Vickery over the potential of NicNat, I doubt it'll go down that way ).

Port could use one with their current stocks aging, but I'm not sure their need is desperate enough to pay pick 4 for one and might take their chances with later picks.

Essendon could use one too, but again, not really a priority for them.

Carlton just traded their second pick for a ruckman, they're not going to use both their 2 top picks for Rucks.

Brisbane is pretty good for ruckmen, so I doubt they're in the running.

So I think there is a fair chance he'll fall to us...Not sure thats a good thing though. As I've said before that I don't usually think ruckmen are worth pick 1, but in our situation, I think we'd have to grab him if he did come down to us.

I wan't to break down your statement.

>There is alot of hype regarding Sidebottom

Correct. 10 goals in a GF will do it every time. Great effort, great game...but overhyped.

> becasue he has shown what he can do in big games.

Yes a big junior game ... but his team was hot, the delivery was hot, the opposition was not and the defense played on him was very poor.

>He can kick both sides perfectly and always makes the right decision.

He mucked up quite a few bits of play early before getting a couple of lucky goals. He then hit a purple patch and played well.

He has great stamina. It will stand him in good stead for the AFL. But that advantage will be chewed up in an instant as soon as he steps onto the AFL playing field. Then he will have to win the ball against men. Even as he matures I have big doubts if he will be a star forward as I can't see what skills will stand out at AFL level. As a defender maybe??...I don't know. But he does lack that top end burst of speed.

Don't forget Polo played a a great one debut in SENIOR AFL footy, let alone a junior match. What has he done since?

I am not saying he won't make 100 or even 200 games. He may...but if I were to bet it would be that he will not be an all out star.

I'll be picking for the Tigers in the Official BigFooty Mock Draft.

Keep your eyes peeled for my picks, and I expect to see at least a dozen blood thirsty supporters at my doorstep after each pick.

The problem with drafting kids is, you can never tell all these things.

From what i have seen of him, i like his football the most. I guess i just see something in him.

I am also a big fan of Vickery becasue for a big man his defensive pressure is great.

But i will say it again. No matter who we pick up Sidebottom, Vickery, Hartlett, Ziebell, Watts. As long as its not Nic Nat i will be happy.
