I didnt mean the socialising in a bad way mate i ment he might bring some life into our footy club. May be required but when people get offered good cash then people can be influenced. dont forget he does have old family ties to paco

Wasn't aware of any connection to Paco.... He and his brother have been at GV for a fair while. Hope GV do what they need to to keep him...

Read on another thread that Avondale Heights have lost quite a few players tp other clubs next year.
Hope that they can replace otherwise might struggle!

Dont worry about The Heights the have got a new coach on board with a couple of good signings. Got some good kids coming up from the 16,s and 18,s who will be excellent A grade footballers. Hopefuly they dont lose any players but if so will replace they can replace them.

that makes great sense NOT
as for the under 18 players you have to be kidding they were horrible this year I didnt see one good player in that team

Well at least you know what your talking about, 4 played senior football. How many did you have and whats your budget. Avondale arent a club that talk it up like others.

Avondale have impressed me how they have stayed competative over the last fews years with a core of gun players such as Owen, Harris, Trewin, Masqua etc.

Just wondering whether you have the support to maintain it and build on it cos it seems that its basically a club kept alive by a few committed individuals..you walk into your club rooms and its basically your whole senior list and thats about it, whereas at a places like Keilor the rooms are always full of past, current, junior players and members etc.

Which players are ready to take the next step? Cam Trewin and Lee Owen have both left and i hear Rayzor Harrison is off to Marby. And their three young guns from the calder cannons are going to have a crack at VFL. Plus the players they were tring to sign have apparantly been offered more money from Marby. Sounds like it could be a very lean year for the Heights.

Just wondering what these guys are like as they are coming to the GVFL apparently? Cheers

Leigh Owen and Cam Trewin are playing at Tatura in the GVFL next year. Best and fairest winner Rhodes Cousland and 'Rayzor' Harrison are off to Oak Park. Johnny Angel and Jimmy Fizz are going back to Northcote Park. Mail is that Harris wont be there next year either. Prophetic is right, a club like Avondale which relies on these core players for so much will struggle to come back from this.

Im not sure all of the above will leaving. But if true, thats very disappointing because they are all good footballers and good clubmen. Why would 2 A Grade footballers in their prime what to go to a B Grade club ?

I was at the Noble Park footy club last night for a meal and happened to see Alan Ezard roaming about the place, around the ground in the change rooms through the social club then went up stairs with the president. Would be a handy coach for the bulls next season.

I think you will find Jacana very competitive next year, will suprise a few.. have heard many good things from a bloke who is well respected in the edfl and i have to say with him on the recruting team, then Jacana may become one of the teams clubs use to fear about playing. A few key signings already.

I hope this is so - Jacana have sooo many junior teams, I for one hope Jacana recruit well and become competetive as it would be a damn shame to see any club fold.... so GOOD LUCK in 2009

That is a common quote clubs use to drum up optimism. If they have signed then they can be named. And naming them will create even more hype (if they are any good) so saying that they have signed key players could mean Joe Bloggs from the local fish shop has decided to have a run.

And thats mostly exactly what happens - no one turns up !!!

Looks like Craigieburn are spending a fair bit of coin... Picked up a very good player from the GVFL the other night also...

Agree! Reading local paper, large article about Gavin Langourne saying if Craigieburn are going to get anywhere they need to recruit better. Try get some EX VFL players. Craigieburn could surprise everyone next year!

Hardy...I think your a little confused...the Bloggs Brothers, Joe, Bernard and John are playing at Airport West....sure your not thinking of Joe Blonks???....as there's plenty of Blonks playing at Jacana!!

The GVFL player menioned is Hayden Lamaro, the former Melbourne player who has been playing with Euroa for a few years.
And no Paul Currie has been linked to Mernda in the Diamond Valley.

Lol thats a massive Lie Matt.

Paul hasnt spoken to Mernda and wouldnt bother. He is in talks with Craigieburn 100%.
They are spending up big.

Paul Barnard the first big signing at the stars, signing as assistant coach. Good buzz down cooper street friday night from all reports, still no player signings tho! Sounds like the cash would be drying up very quickly down there, with barnes, carey and Ramsey reportedly all signing for big sums. Wouldnt imagine barnard helping out for his love of the game either....
