Immigration Minister Scott Morrison confirms 12 asylum seeker boats turned back since start of Operation Sovereign Borders
On the first anniversary of Operation Sovereign Borders, Mr Morrison told Radio National a total of 383 asylum seekers have been turned back from Australian waters between December 19 and May of this year.
Four of those turnbacks involved the use of orange lifeboats.
A seperate operation involving authorities in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Malaysia has stopped a further 45 boats that were bound for Australia.
Since the Coalition was elected, 23 boats carrying about 1,200 asylum seekers have arrived in Australia, but all bar one of those arrived before December, when authorities started turning boats around
No doubt that Morrison has been the Star performer of this Government. The proof is how the left hate the success he's had.

How can he take credit for something which was not the coalition's policy , they denied tow back the boats was the coalition's policy

WHy has labor been to cowardly to praise Morrison's efforts.

Where was all this concern when hundreds were dying and the detention centers were filling up?
I guess it's only inhumane if certain political parties do it.
Either way the crying now is irrelevant. We tried the compassionate way and it was a horrific failure. Just like in Italy. How many have to die before people realize the open door system does not work?

Nothing will stop people from dying if they want to get to a safe country , even turnbull admitted today something like over 75% of people tow backed would have been genuine refugees

WhWhat has that got to do with stopping deaths???
Why punish the refugees by towing them back to an unsafe country
Solution is to help them , not to die but seek asylum, towing them back to Indonesia or india, sir lanka isn't the answer
