Its a compressed file. Right click it - Properties - Advanced. Untick the "Compress contents to save disk space" box. It tries to make the file smaller, its not really a great idea.

Delete it Could be something like temporary files put there during an install, especially if the install failed. Also get rid of AVG. Get Microsoft Secureity Essentials. Its less intrusive and the best, cause the last thing Microsoft want is viruses affecting their own software.

Hm. Got another mate who works in IT and says programs store files there so they boot up quicker etc. Will it * up my PC if I remove it?

Nothing will * up. Your mates right too. May make things slightly slower, but if you need space deleting it is far from a bad option.
