India's tour of Sri Lanka - 3 Tests

I've put money on the draw as most internet weather sites are predicting rain in Colombo from D3
and on.Glad to learn the pitch seems like a good batting pitch too
Did the same. Sri Lanka should have most of a day of batting in them and then it looks likely to lose at least one day's play.

Just seen the footage of the Indians giv9ing a respectful sendoff on his wicket was taken. No aussie can rip into the Indians for this. A bittersweet moment for all cricket fans
Can imagine Warner complaining that cricket is an English game, and that the Indians should have used English instead of a mix of Hindi/Tamil/Sinhalese.

A double hundred from me will do the trick in the last test. This series is ours, Srilanka just got lucky in the first test.

So theres 1 test left in the series and sri lanka are tied up with their biggest rivals and their best ever batsman is... leaving. Does anyone find that really weird? Not a go at sangakkara per se i just find the whole thing really strange to leave half way through a tied series

Didn't realise there was a third test until now, but yeah that's weird.

I'm not sure where else to post this, but Axar Patel took 27.5-6-92-5 and 6-6-0-4 in a first class match for India A against South Africa A over the past few days. Though he hasn't been able to makes his presence felt in the Indian National side.
He's got a massive future in all formats for India I reckon, huge talent. Can definitely bat as well.

Good to see Pujara get a comeback hundred. Classy player. I know kohli likes the idea of 5 bowlers but India need to fit all these classy batsman in when they are all fit. Pick the best 11 not a structure to fit around the team IMO

Yeah they don't need 5 bowlers especially if they are going to play 2 specialist spinners as they are going to bowl enough overs to make the 5th bowler redundant. Stuart Binny is certainly not good enough to bat at 6 in a test level team. Tries hard and he seems quite likeable but realistically he's a pretty average cricketer at this level.

Yeh He isn't any good. Kohli has said numerous times in the press that he wants to persist with the 5 bowler strategy iirc. India if they can learn to play overseas with this youngish side should be very good over the next few years.

I would actually like to see us persist with the 5 bowler strategy, worked out very well at the P Sara and wasn't the reason why we lost the first. We have failed to get 20 wickets consistently, especially overseas, and since we don't have singular world class bowlers (except for Ashwin now maybe) it might help going down this route for a while and see how it goes.

Only two problems as mentioned, don't have a decent all rounder and too many bats to fit in. FWIW I would pick the following:

Vijay
Dhawan
Pujara
Kohli
Rahane
Saha
Ashwin
Mishra
Bhuvi
Ishant
Yadav

KL Rahul too inconsistent thus far, although Dhawan only just pips him for the opening spot. Think it would be good to have one aggressive opener even though he's slightly loose.

R Sharma just doesn't look like he's got it for test cricket, always likened him to Yuvraj and he hasn't proven me wrong yet unfortunately. Pujara offers a whole lot more solidity.

Bhuvi is probably just as good a bat as Binny at the moment and a better bowler. A decent batting all rounder (who doesn't bowl spin) at 6 would be the ideal fit of course. If only Irfan Pathan could get his act together...

I really like Bhuvi as a cricketer. Ashwin is your all-rounder. What's wrong with him being a spin-bowler AR?
