Groundhog Day again more like groundhog year!

It started for this group in the back end of last year when they let a finals birth slip…Round 23 was the dagger

They are a mentally fragile, weak, bunch of individuals…..not a team

Now that the pressure of playing for finals is off they’ll make a run and fall just short and be happy with themselves….it’s bullshit and I’m
over it. It’s embarrassing to support this club

Blakey - 6 intercept marks in the last quarter….. we like to provide records for our opponents in this regard….

This is what kills us!
Why the bloody hell won’t Voss play a defensive forward on guys like Moore,Blakey?
Put McGovern on them! Leave Harry One out in the forward line!
And Charlie in the middle!!
Do something for #*#*^$ake!

6.15 ! wowee

That said

1. I think Voss needs a reboot playing Cerra and Kennedy HBF - even after Hewett gets carried off with concussion - when we are getting smashed in CBB giving up Carlton's only top4 capability and getting in return - what?
2. I'm over the lack of skill and execution in general play - that is partly on players and partly on coaching .
3. Vossy would now know the knives are put away and the meat cleaver will be out - fortunately he has been saving an ace up his sleeve- he can play the handsome prince Dow next week and all will be good.

90,000 Carlton supporters have just been handed a see you next year card- before the bye.

Will be mildly interesting if not downright amusing to see how the Club reacts - back to Pennant Golf for me and I might take up knitting as a second hobby.
Could you knit me a decent golf swing?

If I was Harry McKay, but with the smallest dose of personal pride, I'd be down the local park having 100 shots for goal every day. All this stuff we hear about, oh its the soft cap, we can't have a specialist goalkicking coach, sports science won't allow it because it puts too much stress on his leg etc. I'd be utterly humiliated if I was him and crazy keen to fix it myself. Or hire a coach out of your own pocket and work on it in your own time. He's worse than useless if he can't kick for goal.
He could even use the right leg.

not here to troll.

semi serious question, would curnow playing a Darcy Moore role work? granted you'd be losing your power forward but surely it's worth rolling the dice...

I don't know if anyone can recall this but a few years ago If one of our boys was hit hard or roughed up Cripps would always be there remonstrating with whoever did it, flying the flag, letting the boys know he had their back. He hasn't done that for a while. I don't know whether that has been an instruction or he's decided to stop doing it in his own. But I think he needs to start doing it again, I mean not belting blokes or getting rubbed out just showing support for the boys, being a true tough leader.
Just my opinion, which by the way is always right.

His on-field body language is not befitting of a captain.

You do realise this team struggles to score more than 6 or so goals? How the heck is that rolling the dice!

I won't forget the amount of flak that I and others who critique have copped over time, when we've questioned culture, coach, expressed how unimpressive certain wins were, been critical of "star" players etc. Almost like we were questioned whether we were "real supporters". I've been a member for all but the first 6 years of my life. I've barely missed attending a Melbourne match in 30 years and same goes for watching (on telly) interstate games. I'm certain that level of commitment is a lot more than 99% of people in here.

My view is that those who show blind faith (and I fear there are some within the Club's walls), who don't question culture, coach or players are the most damaging people for the Club.

They always have been.

We went around this merry go round with the Ciccone and latte player era.

And now it's bled into this era.

'It's not a failure if we don't make finals' should've read, don't worry... we never make finals..except the one year we accidentally made it from 9th.

Other than North, there can't be a worse team to follow.

It's interesting that Voss is basically Teague now in pressers.

Every coach we get eventually turns into the same soulless husk of predictable clichés and excuses. There has to be a reason for this.

From 8-2 to 7-1-14

You have to go back to 2016 to find a full season where that's not a bottom 4 record.

Coincidentally that 2016 team was us. We went 7-15. So literally over the course of this 8 year rebuild we've improved half a game from year one

I'll have a crack.... just give me a couple of days to try and work out what our game plan is..
It’s not that hard Kohphi. Win ball. Handball backwards at all costs. Hack kick over the top of the bloke rushing you from that contest. As long as possible and preferably to an out number. Try and kick to McKay on the left side where he hasn’t kicked a goal since he was 4. Need to make sure he gets demoralised early in game. OR. When getting ball deep in defence go backwards and wide at all costs. You need to give the oppo time to set up. Def give it to Weiters to aid in the slow ball movement because he needs time to look at himself on screen and check his hair before kicking. Go as slow down the ground as possible then try and get Harry or Charlie to perform a miracle. In the case of Charlie it’s best 3 on 1. In the case of Harry that miracle try and not kick it out on the full. But following these methods def create heaps of inside 50s to s**t parts of the forward 50 and that’s ideal because then the coach can blame efficiency (ie: the players) and not the plan.

I like to imagine North coaches can hear the whispers of Glen Archer in the old portables, slowly driving them mad.

I wonder who our coaches hear in the depths of Princes Park.

I nearly fell off the couch when at one stage Kennedy REFUSED to go backwards in congestion and burst forward and we caused disruption. The players seemed confused they found space. And ****ed it up. I expected Kennedy to be dragged for not going backwards out of a pack but I presume Voss wanted to move him deeper into the backline as part of his development toward the ideal modern defender: slow, No run type stuff in the mould of Nick Daicos.

No I’ll just keep in the the memory bank….see you next September….it’s gonna be one hell of a turnaround

I won't be here but enjoy it

I think it proves its hard to move from mid table. From the bottom you get draft picks / concessions. Once you're at the Top you can skillfully use trading to stay there. Teams with mid-table talent are in no mans land. And that's where we've been stuck for a long time.

Waking up and thinking about last night reveals one thing. I still think we have an average list, even after a good nights sleep.

Our good results this year are average. We drew against a s**t and old Richmond side. We barely beat a Geelong side still on the beach. We beat s**t sides in GWS, Norf (barely) and the WOAT (worst of all time) AFL side in West Coast. For all our bluster about winning #17, let’s not be shocked if Collingwood win #17 in 2-3 years. It will be a bigger nightmare when Carlton are leading the “Days without a finals win” charts when * and Gold Coast win one before us.

They all look shattered. Serious question: do we use a sports psychologist? I’ve never heard it mentioned whether we do or not. But this is a seriously fragile playing group. There has to be something which can be done.

My main interest in the coming fortnight is going to be watching to see how long Sayers can cling on in the wake of the PwC scandal. And then to get an understanding of whether a shift at the top changes any perspectives on what should be done.

Please hear me out before you ban me….

As fierce rivals I’ve enjoyed Carlton’s current predicament over the last 10 years ….

But now it’s starting to frustrate me…

I was a massive sack Dimma advocate all the way up to 2016…. And I still don’t give him the credit for being the reason for our 3 flags.

And that’s the answer … Dimma was the problem that the club needed to fix and fixing Dimma actually fixed our club.
Surrounding him with people he could trust, with people who he could spread the responsibilities.
The micromanager become the motivator. Dimmas strengths as a person came through …

You are playing a lot like we played in 2016….

So what’s the answer?

The easiest thing to do is sack the Coach.

The Hardest thing to do is fix the issues that has plagued the previous coaches and now Voss.

Those above Voss need to take responsibility, and create an environment where coaches are given the support that they need.

Personally I thought sacking Bolton was a massive mistake… (he is now at Collingwood) because he was all about changing the culture …

Voss needs just as much support as your future coach will need if you sack him.

We were lucky because we had Balmey to steady the ship…
You need to find your Balmey…because you already have your Dimma.

Wow just wow.

Weitering, Charlie, Cerra and Walsh can hold their heads high. The rest, absolute rubbish. Charlie is fighting so hard for this team.

Harry Mckay needs to be dropped. I understand the kicking yips but he went for multiple contsted marks last night with just the one hand. Completely unacceptable and has fallen back to where he was at the start of the year after putting together many weeks in a row of good football.

I keep saying it, whoever thinks Ed should be sub or backup or even on our list should be promptly dismissed. It's getting beyond a joke now.

Cripps not anywhere near the player he was last year. Obviously carrying something. At least I hope so! Or he's cooked.
