Why have the rule then? The player was given the free, he gave off a handball, another player gave off a handball and then Thompson decided, 5 seconds later that he wasnt in a good position. How far down the line do you expect advantage to be called back?
Youre really attributing what Schoenmakers did to something that may kill Lonergan. Really?
I've heard it all now. It was a soft unexpected bump in the back. Not a fly kick into the kidney
People keep going on about this. Learn the rules. It was 2 disposals down the line. You cant put your hand up and call stop to play just because after 3 disposals you arent in a good position. The advantage was already taken before Thompson had gained the ball.
Peter Burgoyne twice got weeks for spear tackles where there was no high contact, no head contact with the ground, no pinned arms, no injury to the player at all. You can repeat these things ad nauseum all you like but chances are, Walker will get points/weeks for this.
Come on, Surjan is directly over the ball, about to grab it. His sole attack was on the ball. He slid in to protect the ball. I dont think you can say the same with Goodes. All Goodes is trying to do is make a physical contest. How is Goodes going to win possession of the ball in the...
Right, so Surjan, directly over the ball, dives over the ball with his hands out to trap the ball whilst on his knees. Goodes dives in knees first, leaning backwards with his arms metres from the ball. But yeah, same thing alright :thumbsu:
Nowhere near as bad on replay as it seemed at the ground, but they were both very different actions. Surj dove on the ball to win it. Goodes dove into the contest knees first and leaning back, not really near the ball at all.
At the ground, Goodes apologised to Surjan straight after.
Re: Hawthorn vs Collingwood + umpires
Watched the replay last night and still think the umpires had minimal influence. Hawthorn take their chances in front of goal, they win. Pure and simple.
Absolute farce. Noone knew what was going on - the supporters, the players, probably the umpires too. You see guys punch it over the line and its not a free....it accidentally dribbles off your leg and its a free. Pure stupidity. Even worse than the rule a few years back when you couldnt...
The umpiring standard has been shit all year, across all games and all rounds. The umpiring in the SANFL is even worse. So no, the umpiring hasnt been good, but has it favoured St Kilda? No it hasnt. It isnt just a Crows thing.
I think he'll probably get points but no suspension as he essentially missed him and got him with a forearm, but attempted spoil is the worst excuse ive ever heard. Trengove was kicking the ball. How do you spoil a kick by swinging your arm into the player at head height?
