To be honest who's spot does Howe take? He is loose checking, roaming undersized tall back. He's not defensive enough to play Stratts role and to small to play Key back. The only way I'd see him getting a gig is through major re-shuffling of our forward line which we know Clarko could do considering how innovative he is.

Hale goes out, Howe comes in and we become a mid sized but dynamic forward line. That would leave us going with 1 legit ruckman and Ruffy chopping out.

Bruest - Gunston - Howe
Pop - Ruff - Cyril

Plus is he worth the coin/risk in consideration to the fact that we'd likely lose Sicily from loss of opportunity.

Howe trade is nothing but " yea, whatever...now for the big fish" type trade for whichever club particularly the Hawks. Soft, inconsistent, no understanding of 'what it takes' so, with our window still wide open lets get ready made A Grader instead. Howe would most likely be fighting for the Goal kicking award with Grimley at Box Hill. C- player imo.

If the sub rule is gone from next year, the reliance on a ruckman that can play forward reduces. Therefore you can chase another specialist forward and not need a Hale type of ruckman (though they are handy).

I'd like to see Sicily and TOB be given a few more chances next year to see if they can make it. Liked the early sighter of Sicily though. TOB been unsighted all year in the seniors, who's his Box Hill form been like??

All our recruiting is done on a needs basis, and a player like Howe who can clunk marks is a need. How many times do we bomb it long and there is no one who even remotely looks like marking it.

He will make the other forwards job a lot easier, therefore structurally IMO will be very important. $600k is not something I can see our club spending on him though.

J Howe is a natural forward, not someone we need for our backline. I love watching him take hangers but I think with Sicily coming through he is a no from me, especially at such a high price. Could make for an exciting and tough match up as a wingman.

Howe will come at a higher price because of "potential" and "excitement". Unfortunately those things directly don't win flags and there's no guarantee he could improve to be worth what we'd have to pay.

Though if the club is keen then I'd put my faith in them to help him realise something they see in him.

Clarkson wouldn't take Howe...too soft...Clarkson is interested in players that put their head over the ball...whose out there like that? ..that is avaible and what Hawks need going forward?

Bennell/Dangerfield/Treloar...Aish?...any others?...what about a ruckman/resting forward..Hale will retire at seasons end..have we enough in our dept'...I'd be chasing Kreuzer if I was the Hawks...

People have been sucked in by the $$$ quoted in the press, by managers with agendas. Clubs, and particularly Hawthorn, don't pay the money that these media flogs spout.

I don't know why anyone, particularly Hawthorn fans that have watched us become the best run club in the comp, even contemplates worrying about Hawthorn "overspending", or throwing money at a player that will cost us somewhere else on the list. We just don't do it.

Not understanding the lack of interest in Jeremy Howe?

Good size (190cm), great athleticism, nice kick, elite hands, versatile... Would be a very good FA pick up imo

See I think the concern is his size, he is sort of that Crameri height which is a tweener key forward, if he was 5-6cm taller then he would be a real goer but we've got a developing James Sicily who by all accounts looks like he will be a lot better than Howe and is of similar stature.

If we were deciding to spend 500-600k on someone I'd be looking as strongly as I could at topping up our midfield, there are multiple guys at both the GC and GWS who will be looking to move on and we I'm sure are snapping at their feet.
