Because we would have lost to the World Cup final champions while you would have lost to the World Cup semi final chokers.

Despite Kiwis finishing with 2 less wins during the group stage, including losing to Australia and being humiliated by South Africa in the group stage, and being comprehensively beaten in the knockout final. Sound logic this.

Our Spirit of Cricket rating is higher than Australia and South Africa though, it's second only to England and that supersedes actual wins.

A few things from the kiwis last night.

What does Tom Latham offer to there side. He has rarely delivered against the big countries and boosted his numbers against the likes of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

Surely his leadership isn't that great it justifys wasting a spot.

Plus Devon Conway could keep so they have options.

Daryl Mitchell is a top 3 batsman in the world late bloomer like Mike Hussey.

Wtf was Jimmy Neesham last night was he injured???

Would of been a massive balls up if Neesham was fit and they didnt pick him

327 as a chase is very gallant, you're not losing too many doing that so credit to the batting lineup of NZ.

This whole tournament has been batting though, so taking that inti account.

India look like winning it all undefeated which would be epic, but what would be more epic would be choking in the final. Don't see it happening though.

Another dominating performance. Smacked em with the bat & it was far too much for that NZ batting line up. Domination from Shami, turning into one our of greatest bowlers.

If Australia lose to South Africa tomorrow night I reckon we deserve to be top 3 ahead of you.
Another loser to Australia claim some moral victory.
This time its the South Sea pommies. Fitting I suppose, cut from the same cloth.

I can always accept criticism of technique but it’s a bit rich retrospectively reading posts about a lack of intent…

These guys are the world’s best spinners and quicks combining to be the world’s best attack, it’s not a question of just blindly going out and slogging or running down the track.

If that worked, with all the analysis and coaching and innovation, it would have been done and worked by now.

So batsmen do things like hang back in their crease knowing that there is a slightly higher chance that they will be given some width or a short ball to rock back on, than something over pitched that they can lean into and slog, etc etc.

These guys are in a World Cup semi final. They’re not idiots.

Yes of course you want to go down swinging if you are going to lose but you also aren’t just out there mindlessly plodding along with no heed to the situation batting against a bowling machine

Lol, so is Australia.

All I’ve read this morning after a bloke hit his 50th odi century last night in something like 270 innings (Australia’s greatest ODI batsmen took 360 to hit 30, for context) is Aussie fan after Aussie fan try - unsuccessfully - on every platform of social media, to explain away the greatest white ball career in cricket history.

Kiwis and Englishmen - the likes of Piers Morgan aside - are no better or worse than most others.
In fact as a general rule I’d say they’re better at at least knowing how to access Howstat.

Kiwis can hold there high again.

Need to find some quick bowlers Boult and Southee the lemon has been squeezed dry.

To be fair this was just a good pre-season warm up for Boult before his big league matches with Mumbai Indians Emirates, Mumbai Indians New York and Mumbai Indians Melbourne Green.

Game was lost first when NZ allowed 400 runs on the board. Just too many and needed to restrict better. Then Williamson wicket was turning point in the chase. Just lost all fluency from there and no one could offer support to Mitchell, who was outstanding. Credit to India, no one has really put them under pressure this tournament, they’ve been that far ahead

Shami laying down a marker as the greatest World Cup bowler of all time

Record is unbelievable - particularly at a time where batting and scoring are so proliferate

This Indian side is ridiculous, if Burmah doesn't get you Shami or Siraj will, and if you fluke getting through those two you have Kuldeep and Jadeja to get through! They don't even have Hardik Pandya who is probably the best AR in the world as he's injured.

That's not even considering their batting which is likely to put 350 plus on you every dig.

Now we know what it feels like for everyone else who had to watch the Aussies in 2003 & 2007.

Just rampaging and unstoppable.

Keep waiting for them to have an off day but in reality just too damn good.

I don’t understand why the BCCI would want to create any doubt about the legitimacy of a win by having shennanigans with the pitch curation

They are the best team with quicks, with spin or with all out batting

Whatever pitch gets served up - they’ll be in the best position to take advantage of it

You basically have to bat first and hope like you know what Virat doesn't belt you chasing like he does 9 times in 10. That's your only hope and you have to score north of 280 (utter bare minimum and with our useless attack we'd need more).

There's really no weaknesses with this Indian side, they played their worst game in the field last night and really were never REALLY in danger of losing the game

The pitch was fine it was a road, both teams got 320 plus on it. Wasn't as if it was a 5th day bunsen turner.
