Bronwyn Bishop as Speaker

Ridiculous reply. You are just disagreeing for the sake of it. Move along please!
Again with your simple one-liners, no substance. Disappointed that there was not an ;) at the end.:p
No not disagreeing at all, you must have missed QT during the last government or just continuing spouting your blinkered views.

This is frustrating. I have said multiple times that oppositions deserve to have members ejected because of their pitiful behaviour during QT. This is why you cannot accuse a speaker of bias just because government members very rarely get ejected.

No! The worst thing she ever did was assume the role of Speaker. ;)

She dragged that prestigious position through the sewer.

I would say that Mr Mussels Slipper the Vagina Hater, didn't do the role any good by the end of his tenure.

And what party continued to preselect Slipper year after year.

And which Prime Minister attended Slippers wedding?
The Libs were disendorsing him, he was saved in 2010 by the QLD merger of Libs & Nats which guaranteed sitting members would be unchallenged.

When the Libs found out about him, they sought to disendorse him, when Labor found out about him, they made him speaker.

His nickname in the Liberal Party was slippery. They knew about his antics well before it came out. When the heat started being turned up in the media thats when he was put on the outer of the party (and they publicly endorsed Brough for Fisher, which put Slipperys nose out of joint).

Gillard only made him Speaker because she basically needed to for some breathing room.

And to be fair he was a very good speaker as he hated both parties equally. Unlike Aborts captains pick of Bronnie, the worst in history.

Holy s**t, Lester Burnham, you liked this post?
Is it ironic, or do you actually agree with his post???

Private conversations made public - we've all said things in private conversations that we wouldn't want revealed publicly. And surely that would go for everyone.
When such info becomes public by whatever means, it isn't possible to pretend we don't know about it.

Does anyone old enough know if this politicisation of public services and judges is getting worse?

I can't help feeling that all the anti-public institution rhetoric used when governments have pitched for privatisation may have effected the desire of these places to maintain their integrity above all else. But I suspect much worse would have happened in the past when there was less scrutiny.

And this effects both Labor and Liberals (before the usual d**kheads start up).

Frankly I'm surprised she got 39 votes. Still a fair number of rightist nuffies apparently still inhabit MacKellar.
She should do a Scott Morrison, he got about 10% of the vote in his pre-selection, and then just ran a libelous smear campaign against the guy that beat him, until he was disendorsed.
