Cameron Ling : The Decision

Christ attitudes like this are stupid. Who are you to judge what a guy decides to do with his life? Cameron Ling doesn't owe football anything. 200+ games, 3 flags, premiership captain. Add to that a young family, and maybe you can work out why he chose the 25~ hour a week media job compared to the 60+ hour a week, highly stressful, all consuming coaching job.

Sure, you can think he'd be a good coach and what not. But to think less of him for not choosing that job is typical of the kind of stupidity you come across on the internet.

I wouldn't think less of him for going the media route. I said it was easier - and it is given he is already in the media. Coaching definitely seems one of those jobs where the success rate is pretty low and the demands are pretty extreme. It's really only for people who have the absolute passion to do it. If Ling isn't sure, that probably indicates he's smart to be honest about that and might be happier and better off pursuing the alternative.

And Ling came out yesterday and said he was embarrassed about the attention this has attracted. He didn't seek the limelight; it was BT who kept hounding Ling and speculating on TV and radio where Lingy would end up.
