Shuey - Norm Smith would end the debate right?
Not really, given it takes a whole team to get you there in the first place to have a shot at it. Winning a Norm Smith doesn't by default make you a better player than someone who doesn't have one.
Gary Ablett Jr doesn't have a Norm Smith, yet Bartel, Chapman and Steve Johnson do. I'd still say Ablett Jr is a better player than all of them.
But Martin, Ziebell and Hartlett aren't Gary ******* Ablett so
They don't have to be. Byron Pickett has a Norm Smith too for Port, doesn't automatically make him their best player in that time. Where'd he finish in the B&F that year?
If Shuey won a Norm Smith he'd be at least par with Martin who is the clubhouse leader at this stage, as Shuey, Ziebell and Hartlett are near inseperable.
You're making comparisons that are totally irrelevant.
Ziebell is nowhere near Shuey. Shuey has been clearly better every year.
Trying to illustrate that a Norm Smith doesn't automatically make someone a better player. Of course it's something to note, but there's more to it. Particularly when not everyone gets a shot at it either.

He made a couple of selfish decisions where he could've looked for our forwards but that's about it. Consistently used the ball well and actually spotted up teammates for the majority of the match, and is one of the very very few eagles who could actually hold their head up high for his efforts.

It's a fair comment. If Eagles fan posts "Norm Smith ends the debate", well when he's about a 5/10 in the GF that surely adds to the debate.
