Another club bows down to Collingwood!?

Great deal for the Pies. Good for GWS to finally a player - any player - but I think they paid slightly overs.

Actually think this is a win-win deal. Shaw is easily worth a first rounder, Adams is the same, fair swap of players.

If Taylor Adams progresses at all then this is a very lopsided trade. On exposed form to date this is already a massive win for the pies.

Shaw has max 5 years left probably less. In those last years his football output will decline significantly one can only presume based on most players. At best he has 2 very good years left - and his best is probably already behind him.

So GWS has paid for what he did at Collingwood....well done GWS.

I am so irked by how Collingwood have done this trade period. (Well done to them btw). I just can't believe they have been able to do what other clubs can not.

The only downside for them is they have a LOT of smaller players and Adams is another one of those, but he should be a very good one.

Correct Shaw gets roughly the same Compo as a free agent like Dal Santo or Sylvia as Adams would go between 23-30.

Little bit higher, would value both in the 15-25 range in a good draft, so maybe a 12-15 in this draft. BUt they are both worth the same, so realistically this could have been done a week ago!

Collingwood traded out a player they were desperate to get rid of, an over-priced player, past his best, with discipline isses.
Collingwood bought in possibly the most promising player on the market this year. A future gun, leadership material, with ten plus years of good footy ahead of him.

Pies will be high-fiving themselves over this deal.

Seriously? Im pretty sure Shaw's exposed form has been a lot better than Adams'....

Fantastic news !

All the best Heater for the GWS, always be welcomed back as a Premiership hero.

We welcome Adams a 10 year 200 game player, who is a perfect replacement for Luke Ball , plus Jesse White is an automatic improvement on Lynch and hopefully will form a potent forward line with Cloke.

Add the 3 first rounders from last year in Grundy, Kennedy & Broomhead ( who will be a player ), plus Picks 6 and 10 this year ( hopefully get one of Scharenberg and Bontempelli , plus maybe Lennon ) , the future is bright :thumbsu:

Yes, but GWS bought in A Grade experience, no draft pick will give them that. It is a win-win deal. Collingwood probably got slightly ahead but they are paying a bit of Shaw's salary. Shaw will prove invaluable teaching GWS defenders and midfielders how to train.

Both clubs got what they needed, GWS needed experience, Collingwood need youth. Its a win/win.

Exactly somewhere along the line you have to say "we have enough kids". Get some experience whilst not costing a first round pick, and a swap is dead perfect. GWS still get the top 2 picks anyway who will be better than Adams they would hope.
