Protecting the tradition of our brand and refusing crazy away strip options while every other Melbourne club got suckered into the novelty/potential merch sales while watering down their jumper..

Might be outside of 5 years... but hitching our wagon to the MCG when big incentives were on for telstra dome.

Sticking to our guns on the Nick Stevens deal with Port. some unforeseable misfortune also averted there..

Making the tough calls last year, and they would have been very tough given their loyal service over many years, on old favourites like Fraser, O'Bree, Medhurst, Tarks, and Leon at times, is not to be underestimated.

I don't think the other top three did the same.

Eg Brad Johnson, possibly Eagleton with Dogs, playing Gram and Kosi really quite injured in GFs

These were the best decisions. Being so close in 2009 it would've been easy to stick with everything the same but we didn't let past performance determine selection.

This and a good run with injuries were so critical for them winning the premiershup
