In most of the teams I have seen posted here, not many include Luke Hodge. Why is that? Injury cloud? Overpriced @ 635k? Other?

Would be interested to hear your thought's on Hawthorn's gun.

Look at his scores. He rips out in the 70s way too often for someone in that price range. I am aware that he can also rip out the 160+ scores. I had last year but will wait for a price drop before getting him.

His complete lack of preseason means he will start slow.......but this is Hodge we are talking about so there is every chance he will rip out 180 against the cats round 1.

Barring injury i will be finishing the season with this gun on my team...

but at over 600k there are better options.

1. Off season surgery
2. Underdone in early rounds
3. Premiership hangover
4. Norm Smith hangover
5. Raised profile means closer checking/tagging of him
6. Price too high, will drop

Massive mid season upgrade target though.

Totally agree with all that, very compelling case you have put there mate. And like you said, will be a juicey mid season upgrade target. :D:thumbsu:

I wouldn't worry about any hangovers or tribunal points etc. He will fire again this year but I expect that he will start a bit slower and his price will drop a bit.

As soon as he starts looking good jump on.

Do people realise that over the past 3 years, Hodge has scored more in SC than Ablett?

Don't know about points 3 & 4 but agree with the others. Surely point 5 is the big one. I cannot see teams letting him run amok around the back half loose this year playing the "Quarterback".

He is still a SC gun :thumbsu: and a must have as you run into the business half of the season :p.

fanfooty.com has averages and totals for players going back to 02.

Luke Hodge v Gary Ablett Jr (SC totals excluding finals):

06: 2279 v 1919
07: 2437 v 2512
08: 2012 v 2380
Total: 6728 v 6811

if fanfooty is accurate.

I got the figures from the AFL Prospectus.

He was in my first draft, but will make way for Gilbee or possibly Waite, both of whom seem to be in fair nick.

The $110K I have saved will deliver a net benefit in points by upgrading elsewhere, and like others I will snaffle Hodge at $550K or thereabouts.
